Hannabery HVAC

I have used Hannaberry HVAC for 17 years. They installed my HVAC system when I had the house built and they have been servicing the system throughout the years. There service plans are not cheap and although you can find cheaper prices with other HVAC service companies, I feel you get what you pay for. My service technician, Jake, was very professional, courteous, on-time and thorough. With my service plan, they will come out on a weekend, if necessary to fix a problem.

When its over 100 degrees out and your air conditioning stops working (especially on the weekend) there is always some frustration. What I did not expect was how understanding and efficient the call center was setting up a tech to come fix the problem. The next morning I received a call from their office telling me the time a tech would be at my home. The tech came fix the issue and we had air again. I would recommend Hannabery not because they fix the problem but because of their standards for customer service and understanding.

We are loyal Hannaberry customers. Their work is always top notch. We have recommended them to numerous friends and relatives and have never had anyone say they were sorry they chose Hannaberry. Tom, who serviced our mini-split today did an outstanding job. He was careful and efficient and was able to answer any questions we had about the unit. We'l certainly have them back for the next cleaning.

The service call went extremely well. The technician was in the middle of the service window and was polite, knowledgeable, and explained what he was doing. He was careful to wear booties as necessary, and examined the entire system inside and outside.

I was thrilled with the service I received from Hannabery HVAC and, in particular, John, our technician. We lost heat a few nights ago, & I left a VM to have someone call me the next day. I got a call as soon as Hannabery opened from Beth, who said I could get service the following day. I asked (often, I admit) if someone could come sooner. Later that day, Beth called to say a technician was available to come later that day. John came & was instantly accessible; he asked what the problem was, and what (if anything) we did to remedy the situation, & then he went right to work. He diagnosed the matter quickly, put in the necessary part, & thoroughly checked the furnace as part of the annual service agreement I purchased (because of John's friendly demeanor). He and I enjoyed some great conversation and he put my anxiety to rest. He was fantastic (as was Beth for getting John to come) and highly recommend him as well as Hannabery HVAC. Thank you!

There was a little glitch at the first visit but they fixed it so had air conditioning until they ordered a part. When they came back everything went smoothly and I am very satisfied.

Nice job. The guys knew what they doing, the work went smoothly and efficiently. 3200 sq. ft. 2-story house plus basement. A bunch of ducts and registers. Work took less than 3 hours. Nice guys; the dogs liked them.

This is our 3rd year with Hannabery HVAC annual service. We are very pleased with their work and professionalism. Their techs are well-trained and arrive on-time. The work is thorough, efficient and complete. We plan to continue to renew our service contract for next year. Having a contract with Hannabery gives us peace of mind in the event something needs adjustment or replacement we know they'll show up when we need them. Well worth the price. I highly recommend Hannabery for HVAC service, maintenance or new equipment installation.

Tech was professional and thorough. There was a problem with our heat pump/auxiliary heat and he fixed it while here. Would definitely recommend this company for service.

Very through and checked everything. It was actually under warranty since we only had new system 6 months. Was a contacter in outdoor unit. We are so happy we went with hannabery. Everyone is very nice and professional and they are very through. A+ work and business. I would recommend to anyone.

There is a public list of Lower Macungie Township (LMT), PA registered plumbers - ( different to PA state HIC registration) As of yesterday Hannabery is still NOT on it - so is not allowed do any plumbing in LMT and cannot get a plumbing permit or be named on a plumbing permit in LMT. Yet they still seem to do plumbing work / gas water heaters in LMT - but homeowner's insurance is not valid when there is no permit and no inspection, and homeowner risks a $1000 fine. $60 and some paperwork but they refuse - or do not have the paperwork. There is a $1000 fine for enforcement but it is not enforced apparently - but this could change. Hannabery have ads for gas water heaters on their website but when asked about plumbing permits - "do not do them" - but homeowner cannot get them either for Hannabery as they are unregistered in LMT. Likely they are not registered in other townships either for plumbing as the requirements would be the same / similar. LMT ordinance § 13-206 - lowermac.com/ordinances It says the homeowner is also liable ( $1000 fine) if they hire people not registered with LMT or do not get the permits ( even for replacement items) Without a permit / inspections - homeowner's insurance is not valid. lowermac.com/docs/Plumbi… It's a 1 page list so it's not hard to check. They are not there. I asked Hannabery for quotes for a power vent gas water heater and power vent ( 2 pipe) gas furnace - needing the pvc vents to be installed from scratch out the sidewalls of the house.. Hannabery refused to apply for a plumbing permit for the water heater and said they never apply for plumbing permits. Ok so I applied for the plumbing permit myself and discovered that Hannabery cannot do the plumbing work because they are not actively registered for plumbing work in LMT. I cannot risk a $1000 fine or a failed inspection. They told me that they are not prepared to do the paperwork for the LMT plumbing license and said they "don't have the master plumber papers anyway" - seemed strange to me - and then stopped returning my calls because they said I asked too many questions. They then said they withdrew the quotes they had issued for both the furnace and the water heater. I had finally got a revised / corrected water heater quote which just stated in a couple of lines what they were actually going to do. I had almost got a revised furnace quote --( vent on sidewall of house or vent on back wall of house - no more detail than that) - once I finally got the rep to read their own installation instructions and realize that building code requires 4ft pvc chimney vent distances from an openable window, not 1 ft as he assumed but refused to write down. This would mean the furnace chimney had to go out the side of my house and could not go out the back of it because of too many windows there. It would require an extra 35ft each way of pvc chimney in my basement that he had not counted on. Then they shut me out and withdrew the quotes. I am shocked. If I had not questioned anything I would today have an installation with a pvc chimney vent right under an openable window that would fail inspection and would be in a dispute where it would be my "fault" and the "solution" would be to brick up two windows of my house. In the meantime my "new" furnace and water heater would be red tagged and shut down in a freezing house. On top of that I might have been fined $1000 by LMT for hiring an unregistered contractor. Instead of thanking me for respectfully pointing all this out in writing - in advance - to inform the quote - and trying to avoid any problem - they refuse to actually install the systems now that their rep understands the actual scope of the work to be done. I hope they will reconsider and contact me. I always thought they did good work and we used them in the past. I called and left messages for the manager but my calls were not returned. I hope this post serves to help someone else avoid this experience with Hannabery - or that a manager at Hannabery will read this and try to address and correct this terrible situation.

Hannabery service is always praiseworthy, but this time I would say the quality was extraordinary--even for Hannabery--and exceeded my high expectations. The Tech, Clay C., was exceptionally skilled, thorough, and took the time to explain everything in detail. Equally impressive were his resourcefulness & problem-solving skills. He identified & replaced two small, relatively inexpensive parts on my older unit that undoubtedly would have led to system failure in a short while. And he patiently answered about 1000 questions that I had! I will certainly ask for Clay in the future.
