The plumber was punctual and fastidious. He protected his work area with protective coverings. He cleaned up his work area and made it spotless.
Upon completion of the work he sat with my wife and I and explained the billing. (which is a company required procedure.)
I highly recommend this company.
My husband and I were very satisfied from start to finish. This was the first time we used William Elek, Ltd, and will no doubt use them again should the need arise.
They sent someone over in less than an hour. After looking over the sink, the plumber said that it would take substantial work to rearrange the pipes under the sink to install both the drain as well as the garbage disposal. So, I told him to go ahead and just hook up the sink and we'd do the garbage disposal later.
He set a timer (so I set one also) for two hours, saying that if he ran over that, he would have to charge extra. He got most of it done within the 2 hour limit but spent another hour on trying to fix a small leak in a pipe.
THREE hours and almost $700 later with really no parts (although he charged $90 for some fittings and an elbow) since I provided the faucet) he leaves with the garbage disposal sitting by itself.
The last hour he was sitting there tightening and untightening things while talking on the phone and then left.
e To add insult to injury, I finally got a call from my contractor who sent his plumber, David Pence, over to assess the work left to do. Remember that this was the "big job" that the other plumber was going to charge an arm and a leg for. David said it would be about $150 to redo everything and install the garbage disposal.
After an hour he was done, with professional results and he charged the whopping sum of only $135!!
So, the best and the worst with one sink. You be the judge!
Just as they finished fixing their errors, a part failed on one of the units. We ordered the part and they sent another technician to install it. He did not install the part correctly, and then failed to put the unit back together properly. I found out because when I operated the unit to test it, it nearly fell off the wall. Literally it was missing mounting screws!! I called and demanded to speak with a service manager, who promised to return the extra parts and screws that I would need to have another contractor put the unit back together properly. He never showed up. He instead sent one of his secretaries out to do the job for him.
When I asked the secretary how this can happen, she remarked "We had a lot of these problems and a lot of dissatisfied customers, but we thought he fixed all that. I guess not" --- well that about sums it up.
Elek is more expensive than other contractors in the Lehigh Valley, but the quality of service is just poor. This is one experience that firms up the saying "Expensive isn't quality!" because they REALLY drive that point home. The real strength of a company is when you are called to handle tricky or complex situations. Elek fails miserably.
