In April, we called him to check out why our breaker for our heat pump was tripping. It took him and his associate hours to figure out what they thought was the cause. He said there was a power surge that burned out the compressors. He replaced the compressors and the coil (not sure why) and charged us over $3,000. Within 2 months the breaker was tripped again. We called him out again in July and he said one of the compressors was burnt out again and thought the problem was electrical within our house. He recommended calling PPL and/or an electrician to determine the problem. And it would also coast over $1700 to replace the compressor (again).
After having PPL and a licensed electrician visit my home, they both determined that there are no outside electrical issues. We then had a qualified HVAC specialist visit our home and within 20 minutes diagnosed the problem. He determined that the run and start capacitor had been burned out and needed to be replaced. He said that it is recommended through American Standard that when the compressors are changed, these capacitors are changed as well. If you would have been able to diagnose what he did we would not have to replace another compressor. He also checked our filters and was able to place a temporary bypass to the high stage compressor so we could have air conditioning while the low stage compressor is being ordered.
You should be ashamed of yourself. You and your tech were here for hours trying to determine the cause which took only 20 minutes for a QUALIFIED tech to discover. If you could not find the problem, then you should have told us it was outside of your expertise. Instead, you put in the new compressors and one broke again because you were greedy. Also, because of you I lived without air conditioning for months. I will not be recommending you to any of my friends, instead I will be telling them to steer clear of you.

The installer acted professionally and answered all our questions. He also programmed the thermostat to all of our desired preferences and walked us through the settings prior to leaving. The job could not have gone any more perfectly.
