The painters showed up promptly at 7:00 am although I was not informed they would be here that early. I had been told by Pete Dectis that they would be power sanding the floor to properly prepare it for accepting the new paint. As it turned out the painters only hand sanded the floor using 50 grit paper. The weather was quite humid and as they painted and, as the paint dried, the humidity in basement increased to the point where the cold water pipes were sweating and dripping onto the fresh paint. Despite my suggestions that they increase the ventilation and/or bring in a dehumidifier they said it would be no problem. This also happened the 2nd day as they were doing the 2nd coat. I was assured that the paint would dry OK with maybe only a slight discoloration. When dry, the floor paint was very discolored (brown) and stained where the water was dripping off the cold water pipes. I had to have them come back and re-do the areas that were stained by the water. I again suggested a dehumidifier but was told one would not be needed. In order not to go through this again, I borrowed a dehumidifier from a friend. That did the trick on removing the humidity from the basement and the repainted sections now look fine. They really should have done this right in the first place. I should not have had to hassle with getting the dehumidifier and having them come back.
