Atas International Inc

We have had a problem with the material the roofer used to put on the house. It is a metal roof with a standing seam. My husband has always been a builder and he has built several houses. He wanted to build us one last house with the barn siding and he took down 3 barns to get the material and he built the house and he wanted a red metal roof to go with the barn siding as he wanted it to have that look. We purchased the material from Atas International and we were in the house for only 2 years when the red paint started to peel. We called them right away and it took them 2 years before they sent anyone out. After a year of constant phone calls and being in touch with them they said they had an option to repair or replace and they chose to repair and so we had to go along with that option and said that it would be fine. The warranty for the roof and paint was 40 years. They sent 2-3 people and they told us the whole roof should be power washed and then they would repaint it. We accepted all of this work. They were here for six weeks. They got a crane because the roof is a 12/12 pitch and very steep so they had to get the cherry picker crane and it got stuck in our lawn 14 times so it tore up the lawn and the yard. They had a huge water tank in our driveway. We found out later that they shouldn't have done the roof work at that time because it was starting to be wet in the morning. They asked us to turn up our heat inside our house so their men could work on the roof. It was an absolute nightmare. In the middle of that I had to go to the hospital and have a pacemaker put in. When they left we went out and looked at the house and they had hit the new paint on the roof 6 times. We had to call the paint company back. Now after 1 year the paint is peeling again. The service manager would never even come out and look at the roof. We are trying to find an attorney to handle this because it is a product liability because that is what went bad. This has been going on for 8 years. Their product did not hold the paint, and their warranty did not hold up. They are getting away with it and they will not do anything for us. They are terrible and they are the worst. In 2008 they said they would redo the whole roof. We have had dealings with them all the way up till the beginning of this year. I don’t want anybody else to use them. The paint is peeling and it is rusting from inside. We have gotten new estimates from someone else and it is $74000 to put a new roof on. They said they would give us new materials but that would void the warranty and we would never be able to call them again. We have a warranty and they don’t care. They started to take the paint off in 9/08 and it took them until 11/08.
