While we aim for excellent customer service, we do not subject our employees to such behavior. Furthermore, our painter advised us that you offered to pay him on the side and cut us out of the picture. These reasons are why we terminated the contract."

Since your job was exterior I wanted to get it done as soon as possible since the weather could have went south any minute, which is why I asked a few times to do it sooner. I told the foreman that the roof and gutterwork was brand new and to protect it during the painting process. It had been installed about 3 weeks prior. The foreman said, ?Don?t worry. We won?t damage your home.?
I found a person painting a window sill, and noticed that he was brushing gobs of paint on the dirty sill with the sash closed. I asked them not to paint ANY of the sills and did my best to wipe off the paint with all of the dirt while it was still wet. That moment was when I began to doubt that these folks cared about anything except finishing the job as quickly as possible.
As the people were working, I noticed that they were NOT using tarps to protect the roofs or the surfaces in the area. I asked them once again to use tarps and was told, ?We?re good. We don?t need tarps.? Unfortunately, I am a widow who lives alone and didn?t know what else I could do except take them at their word. I must say, until all of the damaged was revealed on the last day when the roofs were pressure washed, I began to think they were amazing skilled painters who were super-efficient.
Certa Pro damaged my brand new roofs dripping paint and caulk on all of the roofs. They bent shingles and gutters with their ladders, damaged my A/C unit using it as a prop to scrape shutters and dripping paint INTO the unit, they cracked a window in my sun room, painted ALL of the sunroom doors and windows shut including the screen inserts in the sunroom doors. French doors on another porch have some sort of imprint plus large pieces of dirt stuck in the paint, the exterior thresholds are half painted since they were painted while the door was shut, all of the windows in my garage and a set of casement windows on the main house were painted shut, garage entry door paint is blistered, lift up garage doors were not painted on the bottom which is the first thing seen when the door is lifted, one garage door was severely gouged and not patched, paint was dripped onto new brick work, paint on the front and rear entry doors peeled off the day they left. The hidden rear side of the chimney on the garage was not painted. While painting my front door, the person dripped red paint all over my hardwood floors, although he was using a tiny tarp. Fortunately, I caught it in time before it spread to my carpet and into the groove of the floor. Certa Pro did not remove any hardware so doorknobs, knockers, light fixtures, etc also have paint on them.
They were so anxious to finish this job, that during the process they recoated surfaces before the paint had a chance to dry. I asked them about that and was told, ?We use Sherwin Williams Super Paint. You don?t have to prime or wait for it to dry completely?. That is probably why the surface of the paint remains tacky.
I called Certa Pro?s office and emailed Sean McMenamin (outside sales) when I discovered the paint on the roofs and did not hear back for days until they received notice from their liability insurance carrier that I had filed a claim. The same crew showed up at my home days later without an ok from me to ?scrub? the shingles clean and I told them to leave my property.
When Sean McMenamin came out to do the estimate for my job, he gave me a glossy brochure with all of their kudos, puzzlingly including the names of 11 radio DJ?s who they have worked for. I have a feeling that the 11 DJ?s had a much different experience than I had.
I had received other estimates from painters who figured that my job would take 2-3 weeks and with a bit higher price than Certa Pro. Certa Pro arrived early in the afternoon of August 21st and were finished the job by early afternoon on August 24th. They worked through the weekend which means that the job took them 3 plus days!
