First of all the good stuff, everyone I dealt with was very pleasant and professional. For a brief moment, I thought I may have found my new go to service company. Now the bad. Thursday evening heard a strange sound in the kitchen and after a quick investigation, decided to look under the house and sure enough there was water spraying everywhere. Unfortunately, it was after 5 PM and when I looked online the only company that was still open was Wolfers. I called and spoke to a very nice lady on the phone, but they were unable to come out until morning, so I went ahead and shut off the water. Because the lady was so pleasant and easy to deal with I decided to stay with them, although I had used local companies with success in the past. The next day their technician came out just before noon and assed that I had a shark bite connection that had failed and he was going to cut it out and solder a T into the copper lines. I was relieved because I knew that was a pretty quick and easy job. He then went to his truck and came back with his phone and showed me the estimate and it was $1200! That’s not a typo it really was $1200. I really wanted to just send him on his way, but since it was already Friday afternoon, I figured by the time I got anybody else on the phone, they probably wouldn’t be able to make it out till Monday and really didn’t want to go without water For the entire weekend so I just went ahead and paid it. I have owned a house for over 30 years and of course had many repair people out for various issues, but I have never felt as completely robbed as I felt that day. The job literally took an hour And parts were almost nothing. When I talk to the follow up representative the next day, I stated I hadn’t received the receipt I was supposed to get in the email because I would really like to see the breakdown. He stated there was no breakdown anymore. They just charged a flat fee which was industry standard. I don’t blame them. There is no way they could justify that in a breakdown. I don’t normally write reviews, but I have been angry about this for days now and I am making sure that every family, friend and neighbor knows about this. And me and my wife deal with quite a few people every day so we are making sure we pass the word on about what happened to us. Hopefully in the long run that $1200 cost them a lot more and of course I will never call that number again. UPDATE: I called the number from their reply last week. I was told someone would contact me Friday. Nothing. I guess they do the reply so people reading the reviews think they actually care and do want to rectify the issue. Sadly not true. Be warned if you ever have an issue. I am going to copy and paste this on all the other reviewable websites. I may add a picture of the repair also if I remember tomorrow to take a picture.
Description of Work: Angie’s list will only let me select heating and air-conditioning but this was actually a plumbing job. As stated in a review, they replaced a leaky connection and soldered in a new one.

Our Ruud (Model UGGD07EMCKS) gas furnace was installed by Thermal Flo (a company later purchased by Wolfer's) in September 2007. During our latest annual maintenance/inspection on the morning of September 2023, the Wolfer's technician determined that holes in the heat exchanger could result in carbon monoxide leakage. The Wolfer's Comfort Consultant came by that afternoon to offer corrective options. It was decided to replace the Ruud furnace with a Lennox Model: EL297DF070XV48B-01 gas furnace. The furnace is located in the garage. The installers were friendly and courteous (e.g. removed work shoes when entering the house.) After they left we discovered blue PVC glue splattered on the floor and washer. The splatter on the floor was of little consequence and, fortunately, we discovered the splatter on the washer soon enough so we could be remove it using lacquer thinner. Wolfer's seems to be a typical large company with internal and external communication issues. There was confusion regarding which credit card to use to pay for the furnace as well as problems identifying responsibility for returning/delivering the incorrect/correct furnace filter. At this point, the ducts have been cleaned and the replacement furnace, while a bit noisier than our old furnace, seems to be functioning properly, so we are satisfied.
