I was given a quote of $23,561.30 for the job. The other two quotes I got were for $6100 and $8000. I got the job very satisfactorily done elsewhere. I think they really didn't want to do the job. Fine, but I would have preferred they'd said so instead of trying to see how much they could get out of me.

Response from Rupp Family Builders
[Member Name Removed], although we appreciate your desire to leave a review. Leaving a negative review based off a price that is higher then "other bids" is not a fair way to review businesses. This industry is filled with people that will work for less, so we do not apologize for our price and we stand behind our work and reputation, built over 35+ years in this industry.

Garrett and Matt were very professional but also easy to talk to throughout the whole process. We had two "guiding principles" for the project. Don't exceed our budget (unless we asked for more) and make the house look like a single house not an old house with a modern addition. They met both principles superbly (although there were about $10,000 in overruns due to unforeseen issues from a 1924 bungalow, some foundation issues, and some project modifications that we requested. We were able to live in the old part of the house for half the project until they started to tie the addition into the old section. They cleaned up nicely every day. I was particularly impressed with the attention to detail in keeping the "flavor" and style of a 1920's bungalow. The material used was of the highest quality including the workmanship of the built-in window seats, cabinetry and clothing drawers. They also took care to save and re-use our 1890's french doors and our existing deck. Matt was the architect and project manager. He was very hands-on and worked on the house almost every day of the project. His attention to detail and perfectionism definitely impacted the success of the project. The cost included consultations with an interior designer who helped us keep costs down by finding good deals on the hardware. All in all, this was a very positive experience.
Description of Work: Remodel job to add a family room, new stairway, master bedroom, full bath and walk-in closet. We added approximately 900 sq ft to double the size of our home. Also, updated some of the existing rooms including updated wiring and insulation throughout the old section of the home, replaced lath and plaster ceilings and walls, painted or wall-papered all rooms, and tiled the old bathroom floor.

We worked with Garrett Rupp, Contractor, and Matt Greiner, Architect, both of Rupp Family Builders. Both worked diligently to assist with house lift/basement renovation/home remodel. Matt's drawing were creative and insightful, and he was happy to work with our personal designer. Both men were respectful, timely, communicative and attentive to detail. All work completed (bids/drawings) was delivered in writing. Unfortunately for us, the project far exceeded our budget and we were unable to proceed with renovation. Garrett, in fact, went above and beyond to try to fit the project into our budget but we just couldn't get close enough for comfort. That being said, they were the third group hired and came the closest. We have since learned a lot about both renovations and contractors and would heartily recommend this team.
Description of Work: Provider came to us through another contractor to assist with basement/home renovation in August of 2013.

The job was done under budget by some $2,000. The Rupp crews were professional and courteous to us. At the end of the day everything was left tidy and in order. The Rupp employees were very considerate of our new Rescue dog and ensured that he did not get out. (He's a runner!). The only problems we encountered were that the subcontractors (granite and cabinet guys) did not follow the agreed upon schedule that they had previously committed to Rupp. As a result, the completion of the job was delayed. Again, these problems were not the fault of Rupp Family Builders. I would again use Rupp Family Builders for another project and give them my highest recommendation!
Description of Work: Rupp Family Builders remodeled our kitchen, including new granite counters, refinished the cabinets (there wasn't a need to replace them) installed new under cabinet lighting and sanded and stained our wood floors. They also did several minor repair jobs and replaced an entry way light fixture.
