Solid Movers llc - Moving Assistance

I never want to write a bad review, and think the company could be good. Guys are very capable. With that said, our experience was not good. My wife called and had solid movers come out and give us an estimate. The owner came out and got back to her the next day with a number. She liked the owner, the number was fair, so we went with them. They wanted some money up front to help reserve the truck. Apparently, they asked her if she could pay with cash and she said no. This should have been our first red flag. They came the day before the move and helped pack. They came the day before the move to help my wife pack and she said they did a good job, but underestimated the job and the price went up slightly, and they needed some more money. The day of the move was a disaster! I was in Eugene and my wife was in Medford trying to get everything moved. The owner apparently came late, although his helper Jimmy was there working hard and had brought his son to help. When the owner came, he helped load the truck and underestimated how much we had, despite walking our whole house during the bidding process. The 26 foot truck was full, and a lot of our stuff was still in the house. He told my wife we needed another truck, and he wanted another $800 to move the rest. My wife called me, and put me on the phone with the owner. I told him that he had bid the job and the price had already changed a few times and that I wasn't paying an additional $800 and I want my stuff moved. He got upset that I wouldn't pay more and while I was in the middle of talking to him (calmly, I never once raised my voice) he handed the phone back to my wife and said he was done talking to me. Not good!!
Long story short, 1/2 of my stuff made it to Eugene with them. I had to drive back to Medford, rent a 17 foot truck myself, and go move the rest of my stuff out and bring it to Eugene. I wasn't paying them any move money. Of the things they did move, my leather couches got scratched up, a glass top table cracked, my daughters dresser lost a corner (but they taped it back on? When we pulled the tape off not knowing why it was there, the corner fell off) and our childs sleigh bed that previously had three slats under it to hold up the mattress, was put together with only one slat so the mattress fell through that night when she tried to go to bed. We are still looking for the other two slats but can't find them anywhere. Maybe they were left on the truck? Rather than giving them a final check, the owner needed some of it in cash again so that he could have gas money to get back. My wife had to drive to an ATM to get out cash and the rest was paid by check. Very unprofessional.
All in all, they are strong enough and have the potential to do well. Changing prices, getting off the phone while the customer is talking to you, and asking for cash often are not good business practices. I hope this company can get its act together as they had several good reviews in the past so must have done something right then. As for the helper, Jimmy, and his son, they were the hardest working guys during the move. Too bad they can't run the company.

To make a very long ugly story short...
#1 Workers showed up on time the first day one man short. Called in another guy after I complained.
#2 Owner left early but did not tell me he was leaving until a few minutes before he left. leaving me with one guy short again.
#3 Owner committed to return next day at 9:30. Did not show at all, did not call to let me know. Did not return my call.
#4 The two guys that were left the first day committed to arrive next day by 7:30 am. One showed up around 8:15 and the other around 10:00. Still one guy short, asked acting manager to bring in another guy which he did.
#5 Truck was not unloaded until around 12:00 pm. the driver had another load to pick up so was late and very unhappy.
The lack of communication from the owner and the lateness of the employees made a tough job really bad. I will not use this company again or would I recommend them.

Called and got an in-person estimate and a firm date to load up, including taking a platform bed apart. Guys came and loaded everything offering to fill the truck with items I had planned to pack in the car, including some plants. They met me as planned and unloaded including setting up the bed and delivering the plants to the back yard. Paid them half at the pick up and the rest when the job was completed. Simple story. Good company.

They had all the equipment (pads, dollies, pads for doorways, runners for the floors) except the truck. We got the truck. These people were great. Very professional, moved all our furniture, etc. We had 2 storage units and they did things the way we asked. 4 1/2 hrs-3 men. One did the packing of the truck or storage unit. The other 2 did the carrying. Very well done. No scratches or damage. Didn't mess around, took no breaks. We bought them lunch, and they tried to reject the offer. Only break they took, on us. Very polite, No frustrations. Communication was really good. We will use them again when we find our forever home. Schocked when we we're told the cost. We expected much higher, like double that.

They were fast and very careful with all of our things. What we liked was that they put floor protectors down and they wrapped all the door frames when they were caring furniture in and out. They were just conscientious about taking care of our property.

This was the first time we used Solid Movers but I would certainly hire them again. They were well worth it and great quality. They were perfectly on time.

The best advertising is 'Word of Mouth' from well satisfied previous customers. Fellows have moved several folks I know and all had/have given 'rave reviews.' As is mine.

I was truly impressed with the job that Solid Movers did for us. They were punctual, professional, efficient, friendly and super helpful. They went above and beyond in their willingness to make sure all furniture and boxes were where we wanted them to be. They even hooked up our washer and dryer. They were quick and friendly and I would absolutely use them again in the future.

They were awesome. We met on time for the pick up of the moving truck and quickly worked out the details of the move. Upon arriving at the storage unit they started immediately, working quickly, but taking great care with all of our belongings. They even tolerated video game stories from an 11 yr old without missing a beat. After loading all the items from storage and the apartment the unloading at the house went just as smoothly. Then they went above and beyond by changing the connection on my drier then hooking up both the washer and drier. They were very professional, polite and easy to talk with. I would definitely hire them again or refer them to anyone.

They were prompt, courteous, friendly and extremely careful. Took exceptional care of all my belongings and were always mindful of walls and doorways as they moved items. I was moving into a storage unit and when I thought I might need to rent a second one to get everything in, without my even suggesting it, they took pains to arrange everything so it would fit and I had more than enough room. It saved me $140.00. My storage facility manager recommemds these gentlemen to his customes. I will be using them again in June to load my truck for a move to Florida and I have no doubt the load will be stable and secure enough for the long trek. Out of 5 start--they get 10!!!!!
