Keeney Construction

As a handyman things went well.  We worked well together and I eventually asked/hired him to work on helping me to find contractors to do some specialty projects, hardwood floor refinisher, painter, finish carpenter, etc.  He took to this easily but when I started the hiring and work began he often said he could some of the things.  After a time I let him work on small areas of detail, which at first was great but over time 1+year or so, his work didn't hold up.  An example was a small area of hardwood flooring to be done before refinishing the floors was to begin.  Things looked great and the floors were sanded and finished by a 'professional refinisher using WaterLox, a fabulous finish that I'd used before on a remodel in California. The house had to stay locked up for a week between coats and before we could come back to work.  Unfortunately I was not at the house on the day it was okay to walk on the floors and when I did come the next morning, he had already put paper down to cover the 4,000sf floor.  
Bottom line, 2 years later I was ready to move in.  All the paper was removed from the floors and at first sight they seemed perfect.
Until... I took a closer look and was horrified!!!  It was quite obvious that the floors weren't sanded between coats which left dust, hair, etc. in the finish.  Either Doug had horrible eyesight or he thought the job was acceptable, I'm not sure.  But I am sure it was an awful situation and no one took responsibility since it had been 1 1/2 years since the floors had been done.
Needless to say I cannot reccomend Keeney Consruction.
