Scott did a great job for me! He had creative solutions and we worked collaboratively to bring my kitchen ideas to reality. He was able to allow me time to make decisions and creatively approach the project. We metered out the work over several months so that it as done in stages that worked with my move-in time and allowed time for me to get to know the house before making design decisions. I have ended up with a beautiful farm house kitchen with french doors opening into the back yard, the original hard wood floors repaired, new counters that we found at low cost at the cabinet outlet in Portland. I added another set of french doors, mid project, to help to create a quiet space in an open floor plan. Scott did not hesitate, he heard what I wanted and made it happen. He was able to provide good information, pros and cons about my desire to be 'green' and also economical. Not only was he skilled and creative but a really nice person to have around. (The end cost of the entire remodel including Scott and other companies for painting, electrical, appliances and floor refinishing was $48,000)
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel, floor joist repair, floor modification and sheet rock corrections (after DIY construction/installation by previous owners). Highly skilled at working on vintage houses that are quirky and irregular.

Did a great job. Took over tile job in bathroom after the original tile person backed out of job. Fireplace is beautiful and decorative. More than a usual fireplace. Currently has my key so if something needs to be done when I'm not here, he can get in and do repairs. Very personable. Can advise on issues I'm not sure of.
Description of Work: Recently removed molding from dishwasher cabnet. Peviously installed hardwood floors, tiled bathroom, installed fireplace, built and installed rolling drawers in cabnets to make back of shelves easier to reach. installed backsplash and new faucet in kitchen.

Everything went pretty well. He was on time. He tried to be aggressive with his pricing. We had somebody else that we were going to get a quote from but we haven't yet. He was really easy to talk to about the project and easy to communicate. The quote was for about $125000. We've seen enough of his work and other jobs he has done. We've seen two of the job he's done and that's why we got a quote from him, because we knew his work. We would recommend him. We are still not sure about the price part. We were expecting the price to come in a bit lower but don't know why yet it's not come. Supposedly the material costs have gone up.
Description of Work: We got a quote from Dual Purpose Construction to build a new accessory dwelling unit which we call garage.

After having interviewed many contractors for a basement remodel job, I decided to hire Duel Construction, primarily because of the quality job done remodeling a friend's basement and because of how highly they regarded Scott's work. Scott (company owner) is articulate about outlining the scope and sequence of the work to be done, communicates well, is highly creative and a great problem solver. I was always made aware of what to expect as the job progressed from day to day. I own a 1923 bungalow with an addition tacked onto the back of the house. Since this put the original basement stairs in the middle of the house, my purpose for the remodel was to enhance air quality, reinforce the original basement walls, create a storage space (those of you who own older homes should identify with this) and to possibly make room for a small art studio in my 300 sq. foot 1/2 basement.. What I got is everything I asked for and more. If you are looking for a contractor for a large or small project, I highly recommend Duel Construction.
Description of Work: Basement remodel. .. To begin, the foundation walls were cleaned and prepped by grinding the existing concrete foundation walls. Next a concrete consolidation material was applied, followed by acrylic concrete parging. Then an elastomeric damp resistant coating was applied. In the crawl space debris were removed, the ground was leveled, floor insulation was installed, rimjoists and ducts were sealed and, working with EcoTech (radon mitigation company,) a plastic ground cover was installed, sealing the crawlspace walls. The old furnace was turned around to make space, old water heater was removed and a Navien 240 on demand water heater was installed. New walls were built to create a furnace room. Insofast foam wall system was applied to the concrete walls, pipes were relocated, insulation was installed, dens armor paperless drywall was installed, cam lights were installed, the existing concrete floor was ground, patched and stained, gas line was rerouted, the washer and dryer were moved to another location.....
