CRAWFORD INSPECTIONS

We had this company come out and inspect our home before we bought it. We are now looking at over $30,000 dollars in damages that this company missed during our inspection. We have had four contractors look at the foundational damage and they all said the same thing: "how did they miss this during the inspection report". When we called in to explain our situation to our inspector Matt he said he was not going to help us at all and he was not surprised that we were having issues. When we had the meeting with Matt he had another job so he rushed out the door without going into any kind of detail with us about our house. You would think if he had such major concerns with the house he would have gone into detail about the major issues, but he rushed through the report and out the door because of his meeting. We are a young family and if it were not for our contractor helping us out we would have lost our house due to the major problems that were missed during the inspection. We have had our house on hold for months, and are now having to scale down our project significantly because of this company. I am writing this review to urge anyone thinking about going with this company to do their research and choose someone who is going to be detailed in their report and take the time to ensure that these types of major damages are not missed during inspection. The inspector missed several major issues with the house. Missed a sinking foundation, told us the house only needed a paint job and the siding is shot. Missed the roof that was replaced (hence the reinspection) had delaminated plywood that should have been replaced, missed two cracked trusses. Missed a major active leak in the bathroom to the point we had to rip everything out, missed a faulty hot water valve under the kitchen sink, Missed the sump pump pipe installed for closing (hence called out for reinspection) was disconnected/pipe broken and not secured properly, missed we have ABSOLUTEY NO airflow hot or cold into our master bedroom from ventilation system. God knows what else he missed. The cost to fix the foundation is over 20,000 alone. The siding about another 20,000. We were told by the Sherry Francis Group he was the best since he is an actual engineer and really and quot;knows his stuffand quot;. I am looking at roughly 50,000 in repairs. Do you think he knows his stuff? I don't think so. We are filing a formal complaint with the licensing board. This level of oversight demands punitive action. I hope if nothing else to prevent this individual Robert Buckley from Crawford Inspection Services from commiting this error again.

The company was responsive to calls/emails to get a date set up and Matt was on time and very thorough. He had the report complete with pictures ready for me by email later that day. He was professional, courteous and thorough and I would definitely hire him again.

My husband and I are buying our first home so although we've done much research, are actually very inexperienced in this whole process.  We were recommended Matt Fellman with Crawford Inspections by our realtor.  I wanted to make sure we were getting the best deal so contacted two other companies (found on Angie's List) in addition to Crawford for quotes.  The other two quotes were for $450.00 and $500.00.  Crawford quoted us $325.00.  We had a coupon for $30 off so only spent $295.00.  
We scheduled with Matt Fellman with Crawford and were beyond pleased!  Despite the fact I have him the wrong condo unit number, he still was on time, very professional, informative, pleasant to talk to and patiently answered all our questions.  
He emailed us his detailed and very professional looking report later that same day.
Long story short, we had to pull our offer on this particular condo (couldn't use our VA loan there) and are now buying a house.  I've already booked Matt again to perform our next inspection.  
Not only were their rates the best I'd found, but I highly doubt anyone else could exceed the fabulous service and experience we had with Matt and Crawford.  We HIGHLY recommend them!!

I have to say that my initial experience was not good. The inspector apparently was new and did a sloppy inspection job. Any home owner could have done that report. This was pointed out the the owner of the company Matt Fellman and he made things right. That's the reason I would use this company again. The owner stands by their work and make things right. Sometimes business owners have no control over their workers. But once problem is noted it's the owner's responsibility to do the right thing. In this particular case, Matt was truly a professional. I have no qualms about using them again knowing that the people who run the company will do a great job.

This company was recommended by our realtor. Being new to the Portland area (and not yet a member of Angie's List), we trusted her judgement and gave them a call after reviewing their website. We liked the website and bio (been in business since 1987), and they offered a $20 discount for mentioning their website. The gentleman I spoke with was very professional and helpful. They had an opening the following Saturday morning, which was perfect.
Jake Wilson was our inspector. He was very professional and fully explained to us what he would be doing. He reported his findings to us and answered questions after completing each section of the inspection. Total time was about 2 hours.
I gave an and quot;Aand quot; rating on the price but I don't know what other companies charge. However, including the $20 discount, I feel the end result was worth the cost and would definitely use this company again.

The Crawford Inspector, Matt Fellman, arrived on time in a professional and congenial in manner. He had some inspection papers that I needed to sign, and then began the inspection. He started with the interior then moved on to the roof and surrounding area and finshed with the crawlspaces and attic. I followed him as he went, asking questions and even got a few rough price quotes on what repairs were likely to cost. The entire inspection lasted about 2 1/2 hours, I received the comleted house inspection report via email about 5 hours later, the same night of the inspection. I like the report format, as they include photos of the areas of concern in the report; which helps make it easy to understand and see exactly where the problems are at. The only issue, was that there were a few areas of wood rot that the inspector mentioned to me during the inspection saying those areas would need to be replaced; but the inspector forgot to put those wood rot issues in the inspection report. Other than that, I was very pleased with my home inspection.

Inspector arrived on time - very approachable, friendly and professional. He did a very thorough going-over of the home, then walked me through it to point out some of the big stuff. A very complete, easy to understand report - with pictures and recommendations - was emailed to me at nine the next morning. I felt very comfortable with and confident in their services. Would definitely recommend.

ON THE DAY OF THE INSPECTION WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THE WORK. THE INSPECTOR SEEMED THOROUGH, AND PROFESSIONAL. HE TALKED WITH US ABOUT THE THINGS HE HAD FOUND. UPON MOVING INTO THE HOUSE WE FOUND THREE SIGNIFICANT DEFECTS, INCLUDING WATER DAMAGE, THAT THE INSPECTOR MISSED. THE COMPANY WAS CONTACTED, AND ANOTHER INSPECTOR WAS SENT TO OUR HOME TO SERVE AS A NEUTRAL PERSON TO CHECK OUT WHAT WAS MISSED. HE AGREED THAT THE DEFECTS SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE ORIGINAL REPORT. THE WORK WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $1500 TO FIX. AT THAT TIME THE INSPECTION FEE WAS REFUNDED, HOWEVER AS PER THE CONTRACT THE COMPANY HOLDS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIRS.
