A 1 READY MIX

I ordered 5 yards of concrete from A-1 Ready Mix in Warrenton Or. The truck showed up on time with the requested mix. We visited about where to unload the concrete. The truck backed over a corner of our driveway and broke about 11/2 feet off. This was not particularly a big deal. I told the driver that I would probably have to wheelbarrow about 1/2 the truck load about 20 to 30 feet into six cylinders that were 2'x3' deep. The unloading start to finish was 1 hour and 30 minutes. I had previously written a check $604.00 as requested by A-1's office. I was told then by the driver there was an additional Stand By charge of $85.25 because we took to long to unload. The driver had previously stated that this was his last load. At no time was there any mention of a potential extra charge related to unloading time. The driver knew I had to use a wheelbarrow to move the concrete before we started. It was almost like "I gotcha" . I ask the driver why he did not say anything about an extra charge. He replied that everything has gone up, which made no sense at all. I called the A-1 office and was told I should of known about unloading time. I am a home owner, like many others, how could we know such a thing. This was one of those buyer beware situations that I hope other will not be caught in.
