WEST OREGON ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE INC

They have the "highest priced electricity in the Northwest." They don't come out; they just supply the electricity. It's a small company; they have maybe 103,000 costumers. At Christmas, when we had the big snow in the area, we were without electricity for four days, starting the day before Christmas Eve. We had Christmas with the hum of the generator. It was understandable, and they worked really hard to fix it. They called in crews from around the state. Three or four days later, the power went off again at 2:00 in the middle of the night. Once I got the generator going, I called them up. They had somebody manning the emergency line; he took down the information and said thank you. One of my neighbors said they called at 2:15 and got the owner on the phone, who said he'd get somebody out there right away. I called again at 8:15 in the morning and asked if they had found out what was wrong yet, and the woman said the crews didn't get out there until 8:30, so my neighbor had been lied to. We also don't understand why they don't get more aggressive about cutting back trees that fall on the power lines. We have a neighbor who's going to court to get the right to choose an electrical company.
