Steve was very prompt in all of our meetings and was very responsive via telephone & e-mail. While I had a very specific idea of the scope of the work we wanted to do, Steve's insights about how to use the space most efficiently really helped me develop a better visualization and conceptualization of how to move forward on the construction. Because the scope of the work involved significant plumbing additions, Steve was also present with the sub-contracted plumbing crew to discuss what their portion of the work would be and discuss the timeline of the improvements. Steve's estimate arrived promptly after the scope of the work was hammered out, and I felt that his pricing was fair, and inclusive of everything required for the work. While we ultimately decided on another contractor and a smaller scope of work, I will surely look to Steve with any future work that needs to be done on our home. This is one of the first times I've had to look for contractors since we bought our home 4 1/2 years ago, and despite the things you hear about contractors and some of the potential pitfalls of having work like this done, it feel much better knowing that there are contractors with the knowledge, professionalism, and courteousness of Steve to work with.

Steven L. Van Der Veen Construction surpassed all my expectations. I bought a fixer-upper out of foreclosure and moved to Springfield Oregon this year. Because I was new to the community, I looked for the man I had heard so much good feedback about. It was Steve and he had remodeled a church in Eugene with the help of parishoners. I knew this was the guy for my job because my extended family wanted to help out with parts of the construction. Steve was a gem. Not only did he support our desire to work on the house, but when we got busy and asked him to fill in do the work we were supposed to do, he did just that. And he did an excellent job. He was a pleasure throughout the whole process.
