"By Dion Melchor, We are sorry for any inconvenience that the reschedule caused you, the crew did not refuse to wear a mask, the crew did not feel safe to stay after you guys told them that you had Covid recently, the crew reach out to the office to communicate that information, and when we spoke on the phone with you, you told me the dates when you had covid and we the office made the decision not to make the crew stay. This didn’t have to do with anything else but safety for the crew, the rest of us here on the company and our other customers, and our families. Again, sorry for any inconvenience that we caused you."
We had decided to remodel our small master bathroom and were originally looking for a suitable quartz counter remnant for the project. After looking at reviews on Angie's List, we decided to pay a visit to Quartz and Granite Countertops to look over some remnants. While we were there, they brought in a beautiful slab of carrara marble for a kitchen counter that someone had purchased. My wife took one look at that slab of marble and immediately fell in love with it. As luck would have it, there would be sufficient material left over not only for the counter and back-splash in our small master bath, but also for the larger counter and back-splash in our main bath that we were planning to do next year.
We spoke with Brian about using marble instead of quartz for the project and based on his feedback, and the fact that they could offer a ten-year sealant, we decided to go ahead with the marble. We went ahead and purchased enough material for both bathrooms, then arranged for the cutting and installation of the counter for the master bath.
We had just started our master bath remodeling project with Superior Building Concepts out of Vancouver, WA*, so we were unsure as to when we would need to have the material delivered and the smaller counter prepped and installed for the master bath. Brian assured us they could hold on to the material until we were ready to move forward, so we gave them a down-payment and left.
During the remodeling of our master bath, we decided we could enlarge the size of our small shower by taking some space from the main bath and so we decided to expand the project to include both bathrooms. I called Brian to let him know that we would need both counters prepped and installed and he indicated that would be no problem.
Approximately, 5 weeks later, we were ready to install the new counters. I called Brian on a Friday to let him know we would need the counters prepped and installed by no later than Friday of the following week. Brian pulled out all the stops to make that happen, even though it required some serious adjustments to their existing schedule.
On Tuesday, they arrived right on time to take measurements and make the templates. Then on Friday, they arrived right on time to do the final cuts for the faucets, install the under-mount sinks and then install the counters and back-splashes. Everything looked absolutely perfect when they left.
Later that afternoon, we started to notice a bit of darkening around the sinks that had us a bit concerned. I contacted Brian and Dion and they assured us this was due to water moisture having been absorbed into the marble prior to cleaning and it would disappear after a week or so. As they indicated, the darkening stated to disappear and was almost totally gone by Monday morning. By Wednesday, it was totally gone - so it actually completely disappeared within a week.
In summary, we are extremely pleased with the quality of the material, the timeliness and quality of the installation and how accommodating Brian and Dion were in working to our schedule and addressing our concerns.
Quartz and Granite Countertops, Inc. is a very professional and highly customer-oriented company and we highly recommend them. Brian, Dion and everyone we met were absolutely wonderful in helping us to complete our project!

My only suggestion to them for the future was to educate customers up front on the timelines: demo, template, install, when cutouts happen for sinks/stovetops, etc. For example, I didn't realize measuring templates happens the same day as demolition on the old counters. That caused a bit of scrambling the night before to get the kitchen cleared.
Dion handled the paperwork and the supervised the work. He's a no-nonsense kind of guy, but seems to knows his stuff and has years of experience. We had some questions on the bid he sent us by email, so we clarified details with him at his office. He printed out a new contract with clarifications, we made a down payment, and scheduled both the day of measuring and the day of installation during the visit.
To save money, we did the demolition ourselves. We removed the old countertops and disconnected old sinks, etc ourselves.
Dion himself did the measuring on the appointed date. It was helpful for us to be there and make clarifications along the way. He uses an "old school" method of measuring, and it worked really well. He made some suggestions on how to better shape the countertop of the island, which were helpful. He checked the size of the sink (we purchased it from Amazon) and the connections on the hot water dispenser and disposal to assure the day of installation would go smoothly. He also instructed us on how we should prepare the windowsill for installation day.
The appointed date of installation went well. Dion and his crew arrived on time and did all the work that day. They had made a small mistake when they cut the island piece, but were able to fix it the same day and it didn't affect completing the project on schedule. They worked at leveling the countertops on our old, out-of-level cabinets so that the tile backsplash would install correctly and on the level.
After talking to friends with similar projects, I'm glad that the time scheduled between measuring and installation was able to be so short. Dion measured on a Monday morning, and that same Thursday we had them installed. The demo should be completed in order to measure for fabrication, so that meant we had just 3 days without a sink and countertops in our kitchen. We have friends replacing countertops who had to wait 3 weeks or more in that state, waiting for installation, and it was a huge inconvenience!
We are pleased with the craftsmanship, the knowledge, and dependability of Dion and his crew. They stuck to our agreement and were on time and on schedule.
In my case, he presented a very lengthy contract, full of fine print and details. He did not explain or walk through the contract with me, and insisted lots of initials and signatures.
I ordered two colors of quartz, and when he wrote the contract, he swapped the colors, so wrong colors in wrong areas. When I brought it to their attention, the installers told me it'd be a 4week wait to have another piece cut. Dion did come to the site, and immediately saw the problem, but claimed he didn't remember. (Only two weeks had passed between ordering and installing) Then he charged me another $1,000.00 to fix the mistake. So my $4,500 quote now became $5,500.00. He also wanted to take the incorrectly cut quartz away, and said it was garbage to him. When I pointed out that he was charging me for it, he insisted it be dropped at the job site. When I asked him to work with me and bring it back with the new piece, he refused. He did deliver the correctly cut quartz the next week (and I guess I should be grateful he didn't make me wait the full 4 weeks), but I do feel he made an extra $1,000 off me and left me with an unusable piece of quartz because I trusted his word, and didn't read his contract carefully.
"Thank you again for your reviews, we do really appreciate all your comments. We learn from every one of them to how improve our day to day service with all our customers. Sorry for the confusion at your project, I did send you the estimate by email one week before you came to our office and signed it and I did call you three days after I sent you the estimate to see if you had any questions and you said no. We do work hard every day to make sure that we do what we said we will do and on this case we did what we agree on the contract that I handed you when you went to our office and you went through it and signed it, I thought that you read and knew what you were getting. Again sorry for the confusion and all that came with it, we did all the possible things to make it easy on all of us, yes you paid $1000.00 dollars extra that was for the material for the second Island and we paid the labor for the second island. Our contracts do not have any fine printing they do ask for initials to insure that those lines will be read. We do have to work harder to make sure that such problems don’t occur again, one comment that we have to say is that please take the time to read all lines in any contracts that you will sign because you can help to prevent these kind of problems. We as a company we look for happy customers and friends at the end of each project and possible repeat customers or referrals but never an unhappy customer."
