We found 8 inch Nails Construction through our kitchen designer, Wendy O'Brien, and that referral tops a very long list things of things we are grateful for her guidance on. Josh Farrand is a true find.  He is kind, talented, communicative, calm in the face of challenges, with a Can Do attitude that he lives up to without exception. Subs love working with him; he hires the best people, who are wonderful to be around, just like josh. We did a complete kitchen remodel including an add-on that doubled the footprint of our existing kitchen. It required more than three months to complete. Josh is easy to have around, as are the people he brought into the project, that we never felt invaded or peripheral or in their way. He was easy to reach with questions and concerns, and always very responsive. We could not be more delighted with the finished product. His workmanship is excellent. We have the kitchen we dreamed of and more. There just aren't enough accolades that I can give him. If he feels he is right for your job, trust him, trust me...he is.

Josh was exceptional to work with. He was professional, on time, and was accessible via phone and email. His pricing was fair, and he did what he said he would do.

Planning, work ethic and organization of plumbing and electrical subcontractors, and the quality of the work were of excellent quality. I left a lot of finishing choices up to the contractor and am very satisfied with the process in selection of quality components, esthetics, and the finished product. The whole job was completed as discussed and within budget. Contractor has been responsive to questions and fixing some minor repairs within the last year+.

Josh is a very rare thing in my experience with contractors, he is a true craftsman. His quality and attention to detail are amazing. Our new door and deck have totally transformed our house. We made the decision to try a new construction method on the deck framing and went with a steel frame with composite deck material. Josh says this combination has the potential to last 50 years or more. Most decks I have been on have a little bit of flex or sway, but this deck is like walking on a concrete patio in terms of stability. I highly recommend Eight Inch Nails for their quality, attention to detail and innovative construction methods combined with old world craftsmanship.

Josh was on time, completed the job when he said he would for the amount he estimated. I have had people tell me the resulting bathroom looks like it cost significantly more than it did. Josh used quality products, corrected wiring to bring everything up to code, and did quality, expert craftsman work. I would definitely hire him again.

Josh and his team remodeled the bathroom on the main floor of our 1924 Craftsman home. Built-in cabinets were stripped and refinished, the original tub was refinished, the floor and shower were retiled and new fixtures (toilet, sink) were installed.
He and his team were professional and courteous from project start to project finish. He communicated well on delays and kept us in the loop as to what was going on with the project. My infant son and I were home for much of the project and Josh made sure that the baby's schedule was not disturbed.
We'd definitely hire Eight Inch Nails again and cannot recommend this company enough. Josh's craftsmanship stayed true to the style and era of our home. The bathroom is new and beautiful but does not look out of place in our 89-year old house.

Josh arrived within two hours of my initial phone call. The ceiling was not wet at the time, and since the water stains were below the upstairs bathroom, we called a plumber. An extensive check of the pipes and fixtures indicated no water leak. About a week later, water started coming down through the ceiling. Again I called Josh. Again he arrived within two hours of my call. He checked the walls for moisture and climbed onto the roof to check our vents. He determined that the probable cause was compromised vent flashing on the roof and gave me the name of a great roofing guy. Once the flashing was fixed, Josh came back to repair the ceiling. It took several days of tedious work, one hour at a time, to give each step of the repair time to dry and set. I felt guilty taking up his time with a small project that ate up an hour at a time, but he treated the minor repair like a house remodel. He treats every job like it's the most important job.

They did a great job. They were efficient. At this point, I can't even tell that there was any construction work done in my house; it looks just like it is supposed to. They seemed to have done a good job too because the leaking has stopped. They charged us somewhere between $500 and $600 for both the jobs combined. It seemed reasonable. They were definitely very professional.
