The cost for tax preparation was excessive. I am currently assisting my 81 year old mother in compiling information for her 2008 tax return. In looking at her 2007 return, P.R. Kaseberg charged her $225 for last year's taxes ($66.30 for tax forms and computer usage, $60 for assembling a copy of the return, and $98 for the actual preparation of the return). In addition, P.R. Kaseberg prepared a regular 1040 (with a Schedule A) for a person with a total income for the year of $6,226. A 1040A was all that was necessary, however, completing the extra form allowed her to charge more for the tax preparation. I called H&R Block and A-1 tax service in The Dalles. They will be able to prepare my mom's taxes for less than $100. Both said that the charge for the tax forms and for assembling a copy of the return seemed outrageous. Other than the excessive cost, the tax return was prepared promptly and professionally.
