This is January 2016. I have taken pictures of the tremendous amount of standing water on 3 sides of the deck. The cover is not just leaking around the perimeter (3' into the middle of the deck on all 3 sides) but is leaking from the middle of the deck cover directly onto the deck. A friend climbed up on the roof of the house and took pictures of the problem on the top of the deck where it meets the house. He has worked for home contractors and does not believe this contractor constructed the deck cover correctly. I thought I would try this resolution center before contacting my state's Contractor's Board.
This is the second rainy season for the cover. It obviously has failed miserably. The business owner, back in April 2015, suggested I pay him more money to "......replace the gutter & cut back the roofing......"
I do not believe I should be required to pay him more money to fix something he neglected to include as they were working on constructing the cover.
Our conversations are documented under messages; I have also printed them all out. As you can see, he always sounded as though it would be fixed quickly. Workers came, did whatever they did, then left without solving my complaints.
"[Member Name Removed] always has gone through this Angie's List Site which I never check. Most of the time the emails go directly to my junk email. So I have been delayed in getting back to her because I do not realize she had left a message. This is unfortunate because she knows me and has my direct line. I am always available. I have gone over there multiply times. We have tried to see it in action with the heavy rains. I have a competent crew. The existing gutter is a problem which she has not wanted to fix. The new cover rests in between an open space in an existing cover. It is well constructed. Water and wind come driving from the south and gets blown under cover. Unfortunately the current existing gutter won't catch it all. I would still like to see if it can be resolved. She apparently is willing to pay for someone else to repair pre-existing problems but not me."
