Called them in the morning and they arrived mid afternoon and had it fixed very quickly. We have done business with them through the years and will continue into the future.

Jay Parmele Construction built a cover for our deck in August 2014.  After two winters of continual complaining to Jay, him sending people out to "look at the situation and fix it", Jay himself finally took over fixing the problems.  He tried several different solutions, which diminished the flood of rainwater on the deck.  Finally, it appears that the leaks are minimized.  Hopefully his fixes will hold over time.  I thank him for resolving problems himself instead of sending his workers out.  I am now (for the moment?) 90% satisfied, which is immensely higher than I was before Jay took over working on the problems himself.

The business owner was appropriate and friendly.  He directed his workers to construct the 10' x 16' deck cover.  He even did a couple small, extra things outside the original contract for us, as my spouse was elderly. We were initially happy with the construction through the first few months (which was late summer through when our rainy season began in November). Finally, the leakage was so tremendous, I started communicating with the business owner through Angie's List, after having repeatedly calling him on the phone. I started communicating with him in February 2015 on Angie's List  because I suspected there could be a problem getting him to actually FIX the problems instead of just sending someone out to "look at the problem".

This is January 2016.  I have taken pictures of the tremendous amount of standing water on 3 sides of the deck.  The cover is not just leaking around the perimeter (3' into the middle of the deck on all 3 sides) but is leaking from the middle of the deck cover directly onto the deck.  A friend climbed up on the roof of the house and took pictures of the problem on the top of the deck where it meets the house. He has worked for home contractors and does not believe this contractor constructed the deck cover correctly.  I thought I would try this resolution center before contacting my state's Contractor's Board.

This is the second rainy season for the cover.  It obviously has failed miserably.  The business owner, back in April 2015, suggested I pay him more money to "......replace the gutter & cut back the roofing......"

I do not believe I should be required to pay him more money to fix something he neglected to include as they were working on constructing the cover.

Our conversations are documented under messages; I have also printed them all out.  As you can see, he always sounded as though it would be fixed quickly.  Workers came, did whatever they did, then left without solving my complaints.
Response from J PARMELE CONSTRUCTION
"[Member Name Removed] always has gone through this Angie's List Site which I never check. Most of the time the emails go directly to my junk email. So I have been delayed in getting back to her because I do not realize she had left a message. This is unfortunate because she knows me and has my direct line. I am always available. I have gone over there multiply times. We have tried to see it in action with the heavy rains. I have a competent crew. The existing gutter is a problem which she has not wanted to fix. The new cover rests in between an open space in an existing cover. It is well constructed. Water and wind come driving from the south and gets blown under cover. Unfortunately the current existing gutter won't catch it all. I would still like to see if it can be resolved. She apparently is willing to pay for someone else to repair pre-existing problems but not me."

This Precious business owner provided us with premier customer service. We provided goodies and breakfast along the way for he and one worker. He provided extra goodies to us above and outside the contract we had with him. He is believable and delivers the required services on time and on budget.

Excellent work, and quick. It took him less time than he thought, so he gave me a better price than estimated. There was a problem in that the screws had not been included in the kit, so he asked me if I had any that would work, before going to get some. I had some, so it worked out well.

I contracted with Jay to help us create a covered patio in our back yard. I had 3 different contractors come out and give us their ideas, bids, and how they would complete the project. Jay was in the middle on pricing, and the quality of how he described the work is what made us select him as our contractor. Due to the size of the patio, (21x30), we decided to go with a concrete patio. Jay worked with us in doing it in two phases in order to make it more affordable rather than doing it all at once. The patio was put in place first, and about 4 months later, when we were ready, the cover was added along with a privacy fence. Jay took care of the permit with the city and the inspection. He had plans created, and a contract for each phase of the project. His invoices and pricing were clear so there was no confusion as to the scope of the project and the costs. We chose a clear cover as this side of our house doesn't get much sunlight, and we wanted to enjoy it year round. It's light and bright, and wonderful for family gatherings. We're now currently working with Jay on a kitchen remodel, and I'll post another review when it's complete.
