Dan (Owner) acted as the General Contractor during our entire remodel. My wife and I were forced to jump through several frustrating hoops in order for the bank to loan us money for our house. Dan jumped through every one of them with us. We basically did an FHA 203k loan which required a lot of back and forth with the bank and he met with us several times in order to get us all the paper work the bank needed. Once construction started Dan was great. He was constantly sourcing the best deals for materials and discussed each option with us so my wife and I could make the decisions. He got roof bids from a couple of different companies so that we were sure to get quality work at the right price. The roof turned out excellent and he also installed a couple Vlux sun tunnels to bring in natural lighting. I really got to witness the value of a good general contractor when he was overseeing the roofers because job specific questions did come up on my 1952 house that i would have had no idea what to tell the roof crew. Dan was able to be there and make sure it got done right. The windows are AWESOME. We had old single pane windows and chose to upgrade to an energy efficient (U-factor <.30) window. Dan took care of filing all the required paper work and all we had to do was wait for a check in the mail from Energy trust of Oregon, which came about a month later. The flashing, trim and caulking all look excellent. I really honestly dont have any complaints about Dan and Mountain West Construction. Dan charged us by the hour and it was all money very well spent. He was always hustling around and working very efficiently. In the past I would have probably tried to go for the DIY approach and hired each contractor individually but I learned a lot from my experience with Dan and will look to him for all my future projects. He is skilled in several trades but wont hesitate to let you know if someone else would be better off for the job (Like he did for my roof and also on a small flooring project). I would highly recommend Mountain West to a friend.
