We had a pregnant dog who had gone into labor and called this vet multiple times with questions regarding how things were going. She had a sack come out and pop and no puppy came out when we voiced our concern to them they said it didn't sound out of the norm and to just wait that it could take up to 12 hours for her to pass her first pup after the water breaks. We called again in the morning as our concern had grown and they tried to just brush us off and say that everything sounded normal at which point we put our foot down and said we were bringing her in. She needed an emergency C-section and had already lost one of the pups when we had got her in and another one was in fetal distress which passed away 2 hours after birth. We have 4 healthy pups which i am grateful for but I believe that their bad advice led to the passing of the two pups. They also didn't prep her for surgery until we finished filling out credit info and were very unprofessional with their lack of communication, she was there from 730am-10-30pm and we only received two updates and when we were told to come pick her up we had to wait an hour in the parking lot waiting for them to bring her out. The picture below are of her stomach after, it looks kind of like a hack job to me. Our regular vet thought it was strange that they used staples on her stomach. From the research online (which I know isn't always accurate but is based in some reality) an emergency C-section can cost around 2,000 we were charged almost 3 times that amount. I think they don't really care about the animals they treat at all and its all about the dollar for them.

The doctors and staff at the Emergency Vet Hospital were very compassionate and made the process as easy as possible. It is great to know that they are available 24/7 in case something comes up that cannot wait.

Dr. McConnell is especially kind and my interactions with him have always been pleasant. Dr. Warren treated my little dog for a punctured eye the Saturday before Christmas and she was very patient with all my questions and referred me to a great specialist. A few days later, EVH called just to ask how my dog was doing, which meant a lot to me. They are always helpful when I call with questions too.
While there can be quite a bit of time spent waiting, it's well worth a pet owner's time to go to EVH with emergencies. I've never been pressured into accepting services or treatments that are invasive or expensive and really appreciate it.

Late on a Saturday afternoon, our dog came to the back door of our new home with a bleeding, severely sliced, rear toe-pad. We have recently moved into an old home on a rocky, wooded lot. No glass or sharp edge could be identified in the wound or as the cause from anywhere in the yard. Too new to the area to have arranged for a regular vet, so rushed him over to Animal Urgent Care on West 11th. It so happened they had no one else to assist. Very friendly, helpful staff immediately escorted us into the operating room area. We helped our dog onto the scales and they gently took over care from there. They led us into an exam room to begin paperwork and wait for the doctor. In the anxiety of the moment, I did not get names of staff. Very soon Dr. Kessler came in, (I liked that she introduced herself by her first name). She was sincere, upbeat, empathetic and kind as she explained what she saw, and describing the special difficulty of sewing up and healing toe-pad tissue. She described some options and asked about our situation. We explained the strain on our budget with moving in and immediately paying for installation of a new roof. She said she felt our young dog was fairly healthy and would be willing to help us cut costs by reducing the need for extra measures that would be needed for a less healthy animal. We agreed we would very much appreciate that. She was positive and friendly and we felt very satisfied with the discussion. The gentleman from the front desk then prepared and showed us a very detailed, itemized estimate for two surgery options, ranging from $925 to $1200. We signed papers and went home to wait for several hours.
When it was time to retrieve our retriever, I was delighted that the charges were even less than expected and only came to $763.67. We recognized that emergency care can be quite expensive and this was thankfully less a burden to pay for, than it might have been. I felt the compassion of Dr. Kessler and her mindfulness about the impact of these expenses in light of our personal situation, were exemplary. I highly recommend her help to anyone in need of emergency veterinary care. Her staff was very good. The morning following surgery, I urged my dog out the door when it appeared he was about to vomit. I didn't make sure the boot was on to protect the bandage from wet grass. He bolted after a squirrel, so on his return, I worried that there was blood coming through the bandage and figured he may have torn a stitch inside the bandage. I decided to take him over to be checked again and the staff didn't make me feel bad for not following their instructions to the and quot;Tand quot;. They confirmed there was not a problem with the bandage looking a bit nasty, and confirmed it needed to be allowed to fully dry out, intact. I realized I needed to keep him leashed to go into the yard, (which I hadn't thought necessary as he limped around the house with his ears back and looking so meek and poorly). I was glad for their reassurance and we went home again. I am glad to know I can trust them for any after-hours vet care that may come up in the future!

the staff at the emergency veterinary hospital are very competent, knowledgeable and professional. having to treat trauma on a day to day basis obviously hones all of their veterinary skills. i had to take my bichonpoo there for an ultrasound last month and dr naidoo has been following up on his care and progress. dr kessler was able to assist when dr naidoo was not available and everyone we have encountered at this facility has always provided the very highest level of care and expertise to our visits. their prices are higher than a regular veterinary office, but this is an emergency facility, and quite understandably, emergency care comes at a higher price for animals, just as it does for their owners, so their pricing is commensurate for their service. fortunately, i have been able to fill some of the prescriptions at his regular vet's office to save a little money. they have always been punctual, thorough in their analysis, and very clear in their follow up instructions. everything about the emergency veterinary hospital reflects the standard of quality care we want for our little companions.

My dog ingested a rock and had a bowel obstruction. They were excellent surgeons and he recovered well and quickly. He also has a heart condition and they managed his fluids well and he suffered no complications. They were awesome! ps., I am a physician.

I was impressed with how carefully and quickly they addressed my kitty's wounds. She appeared to have very little discomfort and we were in and out of the hospital in less than an hour - even though she received excellent care. Aftercare instructions were clear and we were given good answers to our questions about her treatment and post-op care.
