Fine. Saved me a bunch of money.

Dan removed the fence as we agreed and also removed the ivy that was attached to the fence. However, he made no attempt whatsoever to dig out any of the ivy - he just cut it off just about ground level. This was despite the fact that I told him that I wanted to completely get rid of the ivy, and the fact that we had discussed that it needed to be removed by the roots. I accept some of the blame for my dissatisfaction with the job he did, because he did give me a disclaimer that he would "get rid of as much of the ivy as he could" in one full day with two people. I told him if he didn't get it all out in one day I'd hire him for a second day, but I realize now I should have asked for a more explicit agreement of what he would get done in one day.
On the day of the job, he called me and told him he was going to be able to do it in half the time because he had found additional "crew members". The crew actually consisted of a friend, his wife, and his friend's wife. He claims that they spent four hours working on the fence/ivy. I showed up near the end of the job, and essentially there were two people working and two people standing around (and taking care of the kids they brought with them). In the process of removing the fence they broke a sprinkler head, which I pointed out to dan and he said he would fix, but he has not done so. In addition, he left a pile of fence boards in my yard and a pile of ivy, and did not clean up the loose debris. He said he couldn't do it because his blower was broken. I told him I was dissatisfied with his work and that they had gotten very little done with the ivy. He told me $500 was a fair price for what they did because "Rexius charges $46 per man hour for labor" and that removal of all of the ivy would be "a thousand dollar job".

Daniel Shultz's work was done satisfactory. The work was fine, but he left the area where he was working a mess.
