Auto Body Work
Yes, I recommend this pro
$250
The wife and I have noticed Specialty Auto Body's shop in our travels because they announce community events below their sign, and the neat appearance of the building. Body shops are not known for neatness... They have been in business thirty four years, and good, honest work is the only way to survive that long, so, absent of any friends' recommendations we took our 2005 Dodge Magnum there after the fender bender. Upon studying the insurance company's estimate, we were told they would not use a junkyard taillight, nor would they repair the plastic bumper cover, as they tend to crack at the repair site. They would repaint the entire fender rather than blend into the existing paint. They encouraged us to get the previously cracked windshield replaced (by a glass shop up the road) so they could repair the rusted clips holding the windshield trim. We said we would have to wait due to financial constraints. They showed us their cost estimate (approx. $1600), and told us we were liable only for the $250 deductible. They called for the rental car agency to pick us up.
Five days later, we picked up the car. Not only was the required work done (perfect paint match, no flaws in the metal), but they fixed two minor dings in the fender lip, and Fred, the co-owner, repaired the windshield trim clips. The clip repair and dings were not charged. Apparently he couldn't stand the car leaving his shop looking like that.. (note to reader - don't expect free work.)
I thought this level of service died in the sixties.
The final bill totaled about $1800, and the difference, we were told, would be settled between them and our insurance company, and so it was. They warranty their work for a year.
Specialty Auto Body went far beyond our expectations. They have little competition in the area, so they don't need to be as good as they are, but apparently they simply want to be. Terrific, friendly folks!
