It has been hell! The short version is that the head contractor, Matt Post,(half owner) was embezzling money to satisfy his gambling addiction. He asked for half our money up front "to pay for materials at a lower cost, before the prices went up" and we naively agreed. That money was then embezzled. He then spent two months in recovery, during which time we were told he was recovering from a "stroke." We signed our contract on June 24, 2006 and it is now a year later and we have one wall framed in. They have disappeared for weeks at a time. They do not return phone calls. In order to excavate they had to remove my neighbor fence and drive on his yard to get to our backyard. It has been 4 months and the fence is still not repaired (after two attempts) and the yard is still a mess. They have been told several times about the problem to no avail. They have admitted they have no money, that they are robbing Peter to pay Paul. Please don't get into this mess as we did!!
Description of Work: The company was to add on a 700 sq ft addition to our home. This addition included a remodeled kitchen and dining room, new family room, and new master bed and bath. They drew up the plans, got the permits, excavated, poured the foundation and stairwell, and began with a little framing.

The good: the new room looks nice. Matt threw in some small jobs for free. The bad: sloppy work (left an electrical outlet unattached to the wall, failed to securely attach some window framing). Employees sometimes failed to show up for work, and days or weeks would pass with little or no work done on the room, without an explanation from Matt. He often failed to return phone calls and gave misleading answers to questions. The original time estimate was wildly inaccurate - a "six week" job turned into four months of work. Poor designs led the county to add major revisions to the original plans, increasing the cost of the project. It was both frustrating and disappointing working with Matt, and for those reasons, I would neither hire him again nor recommend him to anyone else for a remodeling project.
Description of Work: Worked with Matt Post, whose team remodeled a family room that had been partially converted from a garage; vaulted the ceiling and installed a skylight; tore down and replaced an exterior wall; insulated the foundation and walls; leveled the floor and installed new carpeting; tore down and replaced an interior wall and door.
