Our experience & feelings. If its your home & want any level of
quality or ethics- Probably do not choose Kessi, If you are an investor or
your project will be sold immediately...They will be a fine choice,
just be sure you are well insured. Just my opinion.
There aren?t a lot of construction choices to chose from locally here in
town. We prefer to spend our $$ locally to help boost local economy
as well. We love our community, have raised our family here &
have been here for about 30 years.
We own a few acres & had decided to demolished our previous home &
built a new home in preparation for retirement. As part of this we
had to go from well water to city water. We chose Kessi because they
seem to have a lot of pull within this community, almost untouchable
really. School boards & commissioner type family ties among
others probably. Although we have heard some negative experiences we
thought perhaps they weren?t true. They have built a few little
cul-ta sacs here over the last 15 years or so. We thought will give
them a try! They are local & seem nice enough. We made the wrong
choice.
Now some time has passed & we get to see the reality & results of
their what seems to be poor & very low quality work. Just do some
research & see the few blocks they have built not long ago...They
have fallen apart, values have plummeted & been costly tho the
home owners. High turnover neighborhoods & now low income as
well. Its very sad since these are fairly new homes.
Some details: Our property was less then a block from the city water. We
aren?t in construction but we were clear about our expectations on
these jobs. We ran into some issues. The city has came back to us
years later asking for permits that were never done & on file. We
have had to show our original paperwork many times over the years
because of permitting problems. This was all included in the contract
that the Kessi's & we have all of the original paper work that
shows this as included. We paid ½ up front. We had to stay on time
with our house being built because we were under contract as well.
They completed the job but they put us on hold several times for
larger jobs. The last issue we just had was both bathroom toilets
were not draining normally...Mind you. This home has 1 60yr old woman
over the last several months & before that a husband/wife for
several years since the home was built new. We plunged & used
drain o for several days to no avail. We had to call a plumber. The
plumber told us the sewer pump was blown up. And he said it is
literally the cheapest, like harbor freight cheap device. It looks
like charcoal he stated. Wow. This was kind of the last straw so I
had. I had to let folks know about our personal experience. Here it
is. I hope it helps someone. Im so happy that there is Angies List
so others can learn from personal expereinces & maybe...The not
so good contractors can learn, grow & get better & The best
contractors can thrive shine!
