We thought the owner was professional and gave us a good estimate and price when compared to other estimates for the same thing. The project took longer than expected to finish. The material used in the deck failed--lots of problems--contractor slow to respond when called about the problems--the entire deck had to be replaced--I contacted the wood manufacturer and had them come and review the situation. The problem was due to the fact the contractor did not apply a sealer to the wood--(as instructed with paperwork on the wood) and the wood warped and cracked. I worked a deal with manufacturer and supplier (not the contractor) and we got the entire deck replaced. I should have filed a complaint with the Construction Contractors Board. But the contractor had promised to make it right on future projects. Well, I have used him on another project--safety railings and repair concrete steps--I paid him in full--the project has not been fully completed. I have contacted him several times --always sets up a time to come out and never shows up--the same is true on another project he did for us--he added a front entry door--great job, but the interior finish has not been completed-was short a couple pieces of trim--told me to get the pieces-he would come back & finish it --I got the pieces the next day--called him & he still has not come back to finish it--the job was started October 2008 and today is June 5, 2010. Again, have called him and he has set up times to come out--but never shows up. I am now going to have somebody finish these projects. Maybe I should send Cranston the bill! Very disappointed.
