My husband and I walked into Vernon's to get a new battery for his pocket watch and to also have him check out the inside to make sure everything was working. He was not knowledgeable at all, asked his supervisor if it was modern or an antique and if it was quartz. After he informed us it was modern and a quartz, he told us that he could not replace the battery at that time. We asked him what the cost would be, and he told us it would be $140 to inspect it and replace the battery, and that if anything else would have to be repaired, it would be additional. We told him we would think about it and went to another watch repair business to get a second estimate, where the owner immediately replaced the battery, ordered us a spring to keep the battery intact, and charged us $10. The watch works perfectly now.
