The original metal roofing vendor (located in North Portland) failed us miserably. We contacted them first, then directed our contractor to use their products. Our contractor was in touch with them for several weeks, and everything looked good - until the time came to actually deliver the metal. On the day when the metal was to arrive at the job site, the vendor admitted that they hadn't yet ordered it from the factory (in Washington State)! They forecast an additional three week delay. Ouch! This was a HUGE problem for us. We had already waited several weeks. The old roofing was removed. The building was open to the sky, and rain was forecast. At this point, our contractor ( Aaron Sahnow Contracting), contacted Taylor Metal Products, in Salem, OR. Taylor had the raw materials, in the correct color, and gauge (thickness). Taylor manufactured the panels THAT SAME DAY and delivered them to the job site the very next morning. Their truck driver was extremely professional and helpful. Their quality was excellent and their cost was only slightly more than the original vendor - probably the fee to haul the panels from Salem to Portland. Overall, we were VERY impressed! We will definitely involve Taylor Metal Products on future projects. Note - Taylor Metal Products may also have an office in the Portland area. We see it listed but do not know if it's the same company. Although the work was done in the Portland area, our experience was with the Salem operation. Pat Barrett, SW Portland, OR
