She came over and did kind of a walk-through around the house. She gave us a choice of three colors that she thought would be good paint color choices for our living room area, and told us where we could get the colors, the paints. It's hard to find somebody that will just do that.

She noted the color schemes I was already using and asked what I liked or didn't like about them to narrow our focus for color choices. She told me what her preferences would be based on the neighborhood, landscaping, and roof but recognized what colors I was drawn to and helped me find what I was looking for. She was really good at picking up on the subteties of colors to help me better work through the many choices for base color and for trim.

I first hired Shannon to help me choose bolder interior colors that would also help the house sell in a few years. She arranged for me to visit a house in which she'd done the interior color design so I could see her work and see some "bolder" colors in actual rooms. Shannon took into consideration: type of room, fabrics, day/artificial lighting, and my personal "no ways" and "maybes." The green she chose for the bedroom livens and warms the room, especially in winter. Ditto for rec room color. Livingroom color is intentionally not as vibrant as other rooms, but works well. Shannon explained that this color also would be a good choice for a future home sale. I hired Shannon again to choose exterior colors. My husband and I took photos of houses we liked, and I gave her a list of preferences. When we couldn't quite get the color we wanted from photos, Shannon offered to drive with me around her neighborhood, and I showed her houses that came close. She then came up with house/trim colors that got lots of compliments from neighbors. The house looks almost new now, and is a pleasing eye-catcher. Choosing colors that aren't run of the mill takes extra effort, skill, intuition, and communication. Some of Shannon's suggested colors took a leap of faith on my part, and I'm glad I went with her judgement. Without her help, we would have ended up with the old ho-hum. With her help, we have house colors that sing and that will also add value when we sell later on.
