Called layne in the morning as felt shudder in the car new something was wrong it was dark so I thought I had cracked oil pump as I saw fluid everywhere asked for a quote within a few minutes he had a response $1600 I knew he was pretty spot on the price but had to bust his balls a little to feel him out. I work on cars usually myself but time wasnt on my side being new to town I had to take a gamble with a new mechanic not everyone can work on land rovers, layne knew his cars suggesting he had never had to change an oil pump on one of these. It's more than likely something else, I had car towed to his place from Portland hoping for the best. He's a two man show him and another guy that's what I like and. Very responsive to phone calls. Within an hour he called to let me know it was a water pump instead of oil pump. I already had a pretty good idea of what it was going to cost to fix and he was right on the money . I was wondering wether he would suggest new thermostat and belt etc and he did, two out of two in my book fair price and great customer service recommendations. It's easier to find a good lawyer than a great mechanic and I don't like to write reviews as if everyone knows your secrets it's hard to get your car worked on but Payne and his mate deserve this review.
