We've used Dorson three times twice for new bathrooms and once for a complete remodel. Twice we were away during construction. Dorson sent photos and constantly updated us and kept us in in loved. He's honest, competitive AND reliable. A good person to work with. He has our.full confidence and highest recommendation.

After interviewing 8 contractors, Dorson Jackson was the obvious choice for our major project/home remodel, touching on every room in the house. From the very start, Dorson has been responsive & communicative, something rare and incredibly appreciated. He's not just a contractor, he's a businessman and understands the entirety of taking on a huge project for us. He dedicated an extraordinary amount of time for his bidding process, breaking the house down into zones, and then listing every single change, plus parts and labor fees for the changes, in every zone. Every other contractor gave us a one or two page bid with very few details. Dorson's proposal was a detailed 17 page document. He is EXTREMELY organized and we were super impressed with the effort he put into bidding the project. We have since hired Dorson Construction and he and his team have begun demolition. He also sent photos to us of every room in the house after demolition so we could see what he had done, what issues were found that he had prepared for as possibilities in his bid, and comments on each photo explaining what he saw after demo. Because we are not living locally, having someone we can trust with our home from far away is of the utmost importance. Dorson recently brought his son on board and we have been equally impressed with his follow up and thoroughness. In addition, Dorson has gone out of his way to help us with our permitting process, which is not part of his job and was only necessary due to failure of a third party. Dorson did a great job doing my design and build fire restoration project. Losing a house to a fire is a horrible thing, and it was such a relief to work with someone who cares about me and my project. He helped guide me with the insurance company to declare my house a total loss so that I could start all over with a new floor plan. His design team developed a beautiful design that worked with our lot and the house is just what I wanted. The house was just finished and we are so happy. We needed to get a mortgage and Dorson handled that portion of the project as well.

This is my fifth time contracting Dorson for some additional work on our 1920s farm house. This included 2 new window dormers, front porch dormer, new roofing, decorative masonry work, along with a bathroom remodel. I am very happy with the work completed and everything was completed in a timely manner. Communication was excellent and Dorson was easy to work with regarding more custom aspects of our designs. I would highly recommend.

Jackson construction was great in our kitchen remodel. He was super responsive and patient with all of my questions. I truly enjoyed collaborating with him I look forward to Future projects including a bathroom remodel.

Dorson did a great job remodeling my kitchen. I appreciate the way he quickly planned the job and did the work on a budget I could afford. He anticipated the difficult parts that needed to be repaired and did a great job that turned out beautiful. The cabinet work and flooring is just what I wanted. The workers were courteous and cleaned up after themselves.

I hired Dorson Jackson of Jackson Construction as my general contractor to perform a kitchen addition and remodel in September 2022. He completely gutted my kitchen, moved a wall to expand the space, and installed new everything (custom cabinets, countertop, tile backsplash, LVP flooring, lighting, plumbing, and appliances). It was a big project so inevitably had a few (pretty minor) hiccups along the way, but he was always quick to respond to and resolve my concerns. I am so pleased with the end result! I recently required a warranty repair due to an issue with my dryer vent (which was moved during the remodel). He had someone at my house the next day to resolve my issue. Dorson is a man of his word and does excellent work. I would not hesitate to hire him again.

This was my second time contracting Dorson / Jackson Construction. We had an upstairs half bath that was dark, gloomy and little more than a toilet and urinal. We wanted to transform this space, along with some additional work on our front porch, roof and living room. Dorson came through again and we could not be happier with the results.

Fantastic! This was honestly one of the smoothest remodels/contractor service I have ever experienced. Dorson was very communicative, and up front about the time/and services. Project was on budget, he gave us different choices and also took time to explain the differences between them. We got daily updates about our job, including pictures and brief descriptions of the days work, which was incredibly helpful while teaching me things that will be helpful in the future. Jackson Construction wasn't the cheapest, however they focus on quality, and this was definitely true for our job. Every job/remodel will have hiccups, but he made sure everything went right, fixed any errors and has a great sense of time. the estimate on how long the job would take was very close to reality, and shockingly reliable, which also speaks to the quality of his work and subcontractors. Would definitely hire again.

Jackson Construction did a superb job on my kitchen/DR and bath remodels. I'm having them back to possibly add a sunroom and rebuild the front porch. I will try to add some pix if the review form will let me. Quality builder, obviously would use again because I already am. :-)

This was a huge stressful job that we were dreading. A little bit of visible dry rot turned into a much larger job than was expected. However, all the stress was lifted once Dorson took on the job. He had wonderful ideas, knowledge and the ability to handle it all. He had great communication and he handled the permit process with the city as well as the HOA Board meeting review. The jobsite was always kept clean and was easy to work with and made the process much easier than expected. The result was a beautiful kitchen that made our house beautiful to live in, and a revised/exterior that made our house Look spectacular from the curb and also easy to market when it came time to sell. I would recommend Dorson for any job and will use him again in the future!

This is the 3rd time I have used Jackson Construction. Dorson is fabulous to work with. He is honest and does what he says he will. For part of the time, I was out of the state and Dorson kept me apprised of the progress with texts, pictures and videos. There was excellent communication between him and I, with text and phone calls and in person conversation. He returned every phone call and answered every text. His job site is extra clean and he goes to great lengths to make sure the rest of your house is kept as clean and safe as possible while you are living in it. He’s especially good at designing the rotation of the subcontractos especially knowing which job comes inext and has everyone lined up and ready to go. I have had so many compliments on the job he did and would highly recommend this company. Would definitely use Jackson Construction again. ...in a heartbeat!!!

It was spectacular!!! Dorson is a true professional and a delight to work with that can suggest alternatives and resolve problems and is willing to modify. He was great at laying out the detail and cost up front and clear on changes. He was on task and available and has a great team of sub-contractors. The job went smooth (a lot better than I expected) and I was informed along the way. I did a significant ($$$$$) remodel to modify a house for ADA and comfort: modified 3 baths for wheelchairs with a roll in shower/drop down seat, ada height sinks, widened all doorways, installed tile (heated in baths) and hardwood throughout house, significantly increased kitchen island with adjustable height breakfast bar (work height to seating height) and modified a lot of cabinetry with full height pull out pantries, pull up door over pull out work surfaces and soft close hinges and drawer pulls). Modified air circulation by upgrading to quiet dual speed fans in baths/laundry (always on low and increase when someone enters) that really improves the air quality through the house and added a high volume hood over the gas cooktop requiring make-up air vents. We added ornamental iron framed privacy screens in the back yard. Extensive electrical: adding recessed lighting and fans, modifying all lighting to LED, modifying to "smart" controls, heated floors, heated toto bidet toilet seats, splitting existing circuits and adding circuits and emergency access for generator on vital circuits. New plumbing and electrical fixtures throughout. Even redirecting the dryer vent. A big job with lots of hurdles, a little learning for us both and changes along the way. It was an awesome job that I am very pleased with. I would certainly hire Dorson again!!!!

From initial consultation to completion, we recieved the highest level of customer service and quality workmanship that went beyond our expectations. A deteriorating wood deck was replaced with a composite that required additional engineering for the weight of the new material. Dorson carefully designed the structural reinforcements and directed his team in precise installation. We couldn't be happier. Communication, meticulous attention to detail, and expert craftsmanship make Dorson our only choice now for home improvement and remodeling projects. This was our third project with him and we recommend without hesitation.

The project is about 50% complete at this time and we can’t say enough about our wonderful experience with Jackson Construction (Dorson Jackson). This is our first experience with new construction and/or remodeling. Dorson has guided us through planning our project to meet our “vision”. HIs vast knowledge and experience has been so valuable to us and we are so happy we chose him as our general contractor. I will review further upon completion of our project. So far we are quite pleased with Dorson, as well as all of the trade subcontractors he hired. I am excited to write a more thorough review soon. You can’t go wrong with Jackson Construction!

Dorson responded immediately to our call and met twice with me at the property, with our insurance adjuster. He provided detailed bid pricing, and created drawings for the repair work the very next day. His quick response and ability to work with and explain the scope of the job to the insurance adjuster made the approval process easy. Dorson has applied for the necessary building permit and plans to start the repair as soon as the permit is received and weather cooperates. I will provide an update once the work is done.

Dorson Jackson and his crew did a beautiful job with this challenging project of converting a small storage room in the basement into a full bathroom for our special-needs teenage son. They solved unique situations with plumbing (did you know that pipes can be flushed 'uphill' with a special injection system?) and created the most lovely bathroom in our entire house in a timely and affordable way. This not only made our home more functional but also added value to our home by helping us create a 'studio/suite' that can be used in a variety of ways in the future. I can't wait to hire them again for a future remodeling project! They were polite, clean, professional, and trust worthy in every way.

After purchasing our home in 2016, built in 1966 but remodeled in 2012-14, we thought there would be no major projects. Everything looked fantastic on the outside, but lurking behind the walls were ticking time-bombs from "sub-optimal" materials and poor craftsmanship by the prior homeowner’s contractor. In early 2018, a darkening in the hardwood of the hallway floor outside the master bedroom and bowing of the baseboard and wall-board were our first clue something was not right. Because of the outstanding experience we had with Dorson Jackson of Jackson Construction, we gave him a call and asked if he could investigate. After opening the hallway wall-board, he discovered water was leaking, and had been leaking for some time, from the master bath shower. After consulting with our homeowner’s insurance firm, a claim was filed and we began the process of repair and replacement. It was awful to see the behind the walls, behind the pretty tile and glass, just how much damage had been done. To tear out thousands of dollars of nearly-new tile and fixtures made our stomachs turn but once the true extent of the damage was revealed, we were very thankful that we were in such good hands with Dorson. The subcontractors Dorson provided for electrical, plumbing, tile, glass, and paint – all of them were very professional and we never guessed where we were in the project thanks to Dorson’s frequent updates and weekly schedule plans. On our own dime (in addition to the insurance), we upgraded ventilation, floor tile quality, added radiant floor heat, and changed the location of the valve to one that made more sense. Dorson was mindful of our budget and provided options at varying price points. Not only was our master bathroom repaired, it was elevated to a new level of quality, thanks to Dorson and Jackson Construction’s excellent work. He also pulled permits for any and all areas that were necessary. Dorson’s attention to detail was recognized and commended by our insurance adjuster as well. A situation that could have been very painful to work through went extremely smooth and I believe all parties were pleased. We would highly recommend Dorson Jackson of Jackson Construction, without hesitation.

We contacted five firms for bids and three returned our calls. From the very start of the bid process, we were impressed with Dorson's level of professionalism and attention to detail. After a thorough walk-thru of the property and listening to what we wanted to accomplish, we met about a week later to review his bid - in person, not in an email like others had done. We expected a one to two-page estimate with a laundry list of our project items - what we received was a bid "package" with detailed statement of work, estimates for each part of the work to be done, pictures of before (from those he took in our initial walk-thru) and proposed after pictures of items that would be used in our renovation including web site references for products he was proposing. My husband and I were very impressed with the time and effort that went into putting the package together. Again, it was well thought out, provided options, solutions, and the level of detail that gave us high confidence in choosing Dorson and Jackson Construction for the work. As we progressed with the renovation, Dorson coordinated all sub contractors, introduced them, allowed them to do their work, frequently checked in and always reviewed the completed work with us after it was done. Every subcontractor that worked on our property was professional, courteous, and left the site tidy after every work day. With every project, when uncovering old material, you never know what you may find - and we did have a couple of surprises that required extra time and material to make right but Dorson worked to ensure that it was the best long-term solution and one that made sense with our budget. Dorson was always accessible, always provided a "heads up" on our schedule for the week for subs, and we never wondered at what phase we were in our project schedule. Another (pretty awesome) thing I have to mention regarding Dorson's attention to detail - he would observe things, like the water pooling in our front yard from a poorly installed drain - and would come back the next day with a write up of a solution including diagrams, pictures, etc. - and not to say "here, if you pay me, I'll fix this" but "here's something I noticed and here's how you can fix it". His mind is always working, observing, looking for solutions to make something better. My husband and I are very happy that we chose Dorson and Jackson Construction for our renovation - and actually a bit sad to have it ending - the dust and activity won't be missed, but Dorson will be. A fine human being, a man of integrity, and a fantastic sense of humor to go with - we are hoping to stay in contact with him on a social as well as professional basis. I would recommend Jackson Construction without hesitation. Our expectations were consistently exceeded throughout our project and we are extremely pleased with the end result.

It went well and all work was completed on schedule. Dorson Jackson and his crew were a pleasure to work with and everything was done skillfully and courteously. All appliances and materials are high end and the kitchen looks just great!

It went great! Better than great. Dorson is patient, friendly, personable, and professional. His attention to craftsmanship almost doesn't exist anymore. He wants to do a good job because it's an inner drive, and you can't find that very easily these days. He hires the best people and demands the most from them. He exceeded our high expectations and he brought the project in under budget. He has our highest recommendation.

The whole process went excellent. In our experience with using contractors we found this team to be the easiest and most professional to work with. When we had questions they were very informed and walked us through the process. The team that Dorson has put together were very helpful, attentive, on time and very courteous. They listened to our concerns and worked with us throughout the job. Dorson had a complete packet made up of all aspects of the job. It included names, numbers, address's of the team and where to find them. We knew who would be where on most days. If a problem arose we were informed immediately. It was dealt with in a quick manner and to our satisfaction. We expected it to take at least 2 months to complete and they were done in 4 1/2 weeks.
