Residential Services has three major components: Design/Build: For new construction, remodels, or landscape makeovers. Maintenance: Scheduled or contracted maintenance crews for all types of properties. Plant Health Care: Ongoing treatment to improve plant, lawn and soil conditions.

I had some problems getting my contact on the phone twice. Finally was able to speak with a gentleman that would be coming to the house to do a tour to see what all needed to be done.
Now, I was VERY specific with the rep from DeSantis. I went through every area in the yard that needed to be tended to, as well as explaining to him what NOT to touch. He pointed out to me that we had some invasive walnut trees growing in odd places that should be removed, as well as another invasive plant that was growing into a shrub. He recommended that it be trimmed down so they could pull the out.
After we met, he emailed me a bid with a list of items I had requested to be done. The list was wrong. I had to go back through and change the list. I called him and explained to him that some of the items on the list were incorrect.. he had mentioned not to edge a certain area and other items. It was odd. I just met with him. He told me to change the items and return the bid. He would fix it.
I received another bid a day later, which included all my corrections. Once that was done. I figured I would give them a try. He seemed to be knowledgeable and he knew I wanted to get it done.
We made an appointment and they were set to come out. I had had some previous work done by another company and they were really bad. I was hoping that this would be a better experience.
They showed up on time. The rep showed up as well. It appeared he was giving directions to the men he had working for him. He came to the door and explained what they would be working on that day.
After that, I can only tell you one thing. As I was not home most of the time they were there.
I saw a man just standing around in my backyard, blowing leaves with a leaf blower in circles. :( He did this for 15 min in the same spot).
The rep from DeSantis called me in the afternoon to tell me that they would have to come back the next day and work some more on it. They wouldn't be able to get it done in one day. I found that strange, since they got there at 9:00am and left at 4:00pm
The second day came and gone and I really didn't see any difference between the days.
When the second day was ending I called the rep and asked how they would like to be paid. He told me that all I needed to do was send a check to the main office and that they would be giving me an invoice at the end of that day.
I received the invoice. They left. I immediately went outside to check on the work they had done and was disappointed.
They follow the list I had given them. They didn't remove the walnut trees like we had agreeed upon. Another item on the list was the shrubbery coming through the fence on our side from the neighbor, they were supposed to remove and did not.
I was not impressed and was throughly disappointed. For as much as I was going to pay them I had expected great service. Especially, since this is supposed to be a high ranking landscaping company.
Something else that the rep told me was they would contact me again to see we wanted to use them as regular lawn maintenance. They never contacted me again and it is now almost 6 months after the service.
They did not pay attention to detail. I will never use them again.
"Member, First of all my apologies for not responding sooner I did not have my settings set to notify me when a new review comes in and I just saw yoru review now. Sounds like your experience wasn't first-rate and I apologize for that. We are known as a first-rate company and I strive to have every one of my clients completely satisfied. Before I address your service issues though I did want to clarify a comment that you make about DeSantis Landscapes being a Salem company. We have in fact been in business since 1974 in Salem and continue to have our main administrative office in Salem. We also have a branch office in Sherwood from which we service the Portland Metro area, so in your case we did not in fact come from Salem to provide service to you at your home. I know it's confusing when the main office is in Salem and we ask you to send payment to the main office but it would be difficult for us to compete if we were sending our crews up from Salem to service the Portland area. On the service issues I took a look at the proposal and work order that was generated and it is very detailed. With the items my rep initially got wrong, and the things the crew didn't get done, my guess is they just missed some items on their lists. It's a detailed and extensive list and I apologize that everything didn't get completed the first time. No excuses, they just missed them is my guess. Can I send someone out to take care of these items for you? I hope to hear from you so that we may rectify the situation. Sincerely, Dean DeSantis President"
