At first it looked good. After 10 - 15 years, steps on the deck started to fail. After looking at them, I found that untreated wood had been used in a couple of places, and regular nails. The wood had rotted away and the nails had rusted away. The final frustration was when the Pergola suddenly shifted and became unsafe. Spoke with Dales and they sent someone out. They looked at it, took pictures and said they would get back to us. When they did, they first blamed us for not properly taking care of the Pergola. They indicated that it should be treated/sealed every year, and that by planting a Boston Ivy to cover the Pergola, it created the condition that caused the issue. I pointed out that nowhere in their contract did they indicate that the Cedar Pergola need regular sealing, and that Dale knew we were planting a Boston Ivy to cover the Pergola, and he never said anything. The real frustration is I pointed out, and they agreed, that the Pergola posts were failing under the deck, not above. There was no rot above the deck, it was all under which was inaccessible to sealing. This is what ultimately caused the Pergola to fail. A week or so after contacting Dales Remodeling, the Pergola came literally crashing down. Luckily it happened at night, and fell away from the house, so no one was hurt. I feel had they taken proper steps in installing the Pergola, it would not have failed after 18 years. I payed over $40K for decking and a Pergola. I have to completely remove the Pergola, and possibly some of the decking, after I am able to check for damage. All I got from Dales Remodeling, was an I'm sorry. I would recommend finding a competent builder for exterior projects, definitely not Dales Remodeling.

We should have listened to Angie’s list. Dales Remodeling was given D grades on Angie’s list but we hired them anyway. Bad move. Our 6 week job took nine months. As I write this it still isn’t finished and according to Dale, they refuse to finish. Anybody reading these reviews...BuyerBeware!
