We started working with Classique 22 months prior to actually completing the project of new granite kitchen countertops. They were extremely helpful in explaining the characteristics of granite, cost differences, etc. They provided me with wholesale companies in Portland where we could look at a many different granite slabs to make a selection. They gave me an initial bid when we first started and then gave me a final bid after we selected the granite slab 22 months later. Prior to agreeing to the job, Keith came to our house to answer any questions we had about installation and identify any issues (i.e., removing cabinets in order to install the granite). Once we agreed to do the job, we selected our granite slabs and proceeded with having our old tile kitchen countertops removed. Note: We used the contractor Keith recommended to remove the tile and he did an excellent job, however, his finish carpentry work was not up to our standards). One week prior to installation, Keith came to the house, set the sink, and make the template using electronic equipment. We also determined that we needed to do some work getting our cabinets level since our home was 24 years old. He helped determine how we needed to approach this with our contractor. They arrived on the day as scheduled and installed the granite countertops. They took a lot of time to get the seams as tight as possible considering we had some slight cabinet height differences. Overall we are happy with how the countertops came out and they really look nice. However, I gave a lower rating in quality because of how they applied the glue to the cabinet. They were not careful and got glue on the drawer slides which we had to remove (not an easy task) and missed some spots on the island. We thought they could have been more consistent on here there put the glue. They next day they came back and added more glue at our request. We also had to have them come back to do caulking as they failed to do it prior to leaving on the day of install.
Description of Work: Classique took a lot of time with me explaining the different granite finishes and edges and the pros & cons of each. They more friendly and provided better customer service than their major competitor. They installed the granite sink and yellowriver granite kitchen countertops.

We did a lengthy rough estimate of costs over the phone with Brent, who explained more details about granite than any other company. He talked me through the website, and he helped me decide on a modern edge detail for my type of kitchen. I don't care for the more formal ogee cuts. When I later saw the samples, I realized he was dead on with his choice. I think it was called an eased 1.25 inch T Profile. Note that this was upcharge that I willingly paid; I could have gone with less. Keith came out and did the measurements. He uses a computerized measuring tool that is more accurate, although I'm told the better companies do a good job by hand. I visited the shop once to approve the layout and how the patterns in the granite would lay out. I liked what they had chosen and the visit was probably unnecessary. The crew came out with our granite and did a marvelous job putting it in. Classique is NOT a company that will do its cutting in your home, and fill your home with fine grit, as many "front yard fabricators" do. Classique IS a company that will use specialized machines in their shop for cutting your granite, or if handcutting a special edge, it also will be cut in the shop. They cut most (but not quite all) of my stove cut-out ahead of time, leaving the last few inches uncut for stability of the stone during transit. They were very careful, and there was no dust. Francesco did the seams near our sink and they are very tight and hard to find. He also color-matched the sealant between the seams incredibly well. I have been very happy with their seams. One reason I waited to file this report is to see how the seams have held up. They are still good. Note: I think there are a couple of spots where they could have been a little bit tighter against the wall. We are having a backsplash put in,so it will be okay, but that would be my only criticism. I asked and they agreed to store my large remnant for 6 months while I recouped my finances to do a bathroom with it. (I will report on the bathroom job separately.) Their competitor, Crowley's, would only store it 10 days until you had to pay a significant deposit toward a new job. I suspect that Classique can afford to make that storage space because their company is a little smaller and Salem is a smaller market. You do have to request this service, and you may want to call after 2-3 months to confirm your granite is still there.
Description of Work: Classique did all the granite countertops in our kitchen. I chose them because our cabinet maker had been very happy with how they worked on kitchens he'd built in the past. He felt they were clearer and better at the sink details than some others. Coincidentally, I had also attended the Street of Dreams Homes in the past where I had seen their work. I knew only reputable companies were selected to work on these showcases. I also confirmed with the stoneyards that all three of the companies I had bidding were well-known/reputable. We did a lengthy phone estimate to see if they were someone I wanted to bid my job. I then gave them (and two other names--Elite and Crowley's) to our stoneyard for the bids, and ultimately selected Classique. They sent their measurement guy out with his computerized tools to measure the job. I went to their shop in Salem to review their plans. They sent a crew of 3 out to install our granite. One person only stayed for the first half hour to haul in the granite. The other two were there for whole day, until 3-4 pm. Everyone was courteous and punctual. For people new to shopping for granite, the $4580 price reflects both the purchase of the granite material itself and the labor. You do not pay the stoneyard directly; your fabricator does. I picked a "B" level blue granite, so this is not the most inexpensive choice nor is it the most expensive.

They supplied all the granite for this work. They had to cut the stone. At one time they cut the stone too long on one side and in a hurry they just showed it in and put these huge screws at the side of the the customer wood work to squeeze it in. because of them there are gaps in the lower part. When I asked them to correct it they said that the screws have been put in and we will have to pay for the new stones we order. They said that they can?t change the fixing either. They even said that in the process of changing the granite the new countertops will be damaged and they will not be responsible for that. I would say if you are looking for quality you should not go to them. They just did not care. Once they cut the stone its done.
Description of Work: We used Classique Marble & Granite Inc last spring in 2009 for custom cabinets for the recent bathroom remodeling we did.
