He hires another contractor to do the stain and finish work. He does the install. This guy is a master craftsman. He does beautiful work and some of the most difficult installs. Mine was very straight forward. He is an honest and upstanding man who gives back to the community. Basically, I'm happy but here are my concerns. You need to judge your own situation. I think he is set up more for new construction then remodel work, at least small ones like mine. He couldn't just come in and do everything that needed to be done as had to wait for other pieces to finish. He didn't want to come over multiple times as said it was too time consuming and expensive to come over for just a couple hours work. So things dragged on. Made lots of mess with poor clean up. Again, I think it is because he is used to new construction where he just does his part and others coming in after him. Even though he is expensive because he does excellent work, he is very busy.
