We have been working with them for 2 years. We have paid them a lot, and it has been worth a lot. It has been $25000-30000 worth of landscaping. It is a large property. They also do routine monthly landscaping. They are wonderful. They are reasonable. They are professional, personable, and skilled. Everyone should know about them, except you cannot always get into them because they are good. We really like these folks.

They were wonderful! Eric, the estimator, helped me visualize solutions when all I saw were problems. Kevin and his crew worked astonishingly hard and quickly, and they not only did everything they were scheduled to do, but they were willing to accommodate my changes as the project took shape. They also came back promptly to take care of the two small problems that only became apparent weeks or months after they were done.

Phil Thornberg had his team are a delight to work with. They listened to our ideas and designed a plan that was low maintenance for us and really worked with our house and property style. I'd recommend them to anybody looking for a full service landscape design, installation and maintenance company. We use them now for weekly maintenance and our garden looks better and better with each passing week.

We contacted Phil (the owner of Winterbloom)  to discuss providing us with a landscape plan for our "new to us" home.  Phil immediately replied and set up a meeting.  All of our future contacts with Phil and his sister, Miriam were professional and extremely helpful.  They listened to our specific requests and gave wonderful feedback that resulted in a beautiful plan with hardscape and soft scape.  We really appreciated that they were willing to work with us on the implementation of the plan. Phil provided us with a bid broken down by various projects so we could see the exact cost for each.   Our original intent was to manage all of the plan implementation on our own but after working with Phil, we hired Winterbloom to prepare and plant the entire front and side yards last December.  This Spring we noticed that a few of the plants on the original plan had not been planted and a few of the clump grass had not survived the winter.  Upon contacting Phil, he apologized profusely for the missing plants and immediately came out to our yard to check over everything.  A week later, Phil personally returned with the missing plants, replacements for the grass and many more plants for our front yard.  He told us that the extra plants were a "Thank you and Sorry" for having not planted the few juniper in December.  This type of personal customer service is such a welcome surprise these days.
We have now contracted with Winterbloom for monthly yard maintenance including pruning and trimming of all trees, shrubs and perennials.  We know that we will receive the very best service and our yard will continue to grow into a beautiful reflection of Winterbloom's original plan.
In the future, we will definitely have Winterbloom continue to implement our plan.

Phil pointed out several plants that are not thriving in their current locations and he recommended either new, more appropriate plants (more suited to the current conditions of sun/shade/water/crowding/etc.) or else moving the plants to another location where they could thrive. He has over thirty years of landscaping experience in the Portland area and has a wealth of knowledge of what specific plants do well here and what conditions help each to thrive. He made numerous suggestions for our sunny areas, our shady areas, our "we've tried multiple plants in this problem location over the last 20 years and nothing yet has worked" areas, and always had something to recommend to us. We have worked with Phil and Winterbloom off and on for over 25 years and have been extremely pleased with the time he spends with us, his helpful and caring attitude, and his knowledge of what plants work best where, plant pests and diseases, etc.. We have occasionally gone out on our own and purchased some gorgeous plant at one of the many nurseries around town, only to find out a year or two latter that that particular plant could never thrive where we put it, was extremely challenging to maintain, or possibly had little hope of ever thriving in Oregon's climate. Phil could always come up with a new location, if possible, or recommend one or more alternative plants for us. His recommendations have always been spot on, and end up saving us considerable time and money in the long run. We will continue to seek out Winterbloom for future landscape consultations.

They were outstanding with communication. They were outstanding with what they were offering, the service and the fee. They were very, very clear with spending the time necessary to make sure that they knew what I wanted. There were several appointments for that, prior to the work being done. They were able to offer work to be done in phases, to meet with the financial needs. They were extremely personable. Their workers were always on time and always working hard. I go home for lunch every day, so I was able to observe them working, and they really were worth what I paid. I will be using them again.

.My husband even commented on it!  They cleaned out the weeds etc in the back area such that the flowering plants, ferns and small shrubs look great!  They then cleaned out the small area I had showed them,,,it looks so good!  They even made a path thru an area that connects with the back.  They then had lunch, and asked me what else I would like them to do because they had about an hour left to work.  I showed them an area in our front yard that has many japanese anemonies and weeds that have very similar leaves. They were able to do that area as well....It all looks really clean and not messy.   I will use them again when I need someone to clean my yard who knows weeds from other plants!

Phil and the team at Winterbloom were great to work with.  Everyone on the team were responsible, professional and friendly.

The landscape plan for the backyard was created by Winterbloom as per an interview with me.  Included were plants recommended for the area and some of my favorite plants.  The installation of the plan was \ carried out and completed in a timely manner.  I was extremely pleased with the outcome.  The work crew was very professional and worked hard.  I especially appreciated that I was kept well informed of the scope of work each day and the crew took time to confirm with me regarding specifics of the plan.  I highly recommend Winterbloom, Inc. for any landscaping projects.  I intend to use them for a future project in my front yard.

They are pretty good. I have used them several times. They have done big jobs each time.  He is good.  You have to be real specific with him if he is going to do a design for you, what you really want.  He kind of assumed that we wanted an English Garden, the plan that he drew for us wasn't, he hadn't consulted us.  But everything else was excellent.  Any work that he actually did is really good.

Winterbloom is great!  They are very detailed and provide above & beyond service!  I would highly recommend and will se them again!

Phil Thornberg came out to visit our back yard.  He asked questions about what we wanted, what were the problems, and made suggestions.  Later, he and his crew discussed what we'd decided before.  Erick, the forman, talked to me daily addressed my concerns.  They dug the drain fields, added crushed rock, dropped in the pipe and garden material.  Another crew member worked on the main pathway. Erric set up the arbor and re-planted the vine against the arbor.
    My husband and I are extremely pleased with they work that they did. 
    The whole week, Phil discussed issues and the timeline for the project via e-mail, phone calls, and in person. 

The crew was professional, responsive, timely and did excellent work.  From concept development to installation, the project was a pleasure to participate in.

Short story is this: they did a beautiful job. They converted a pond into a water feature (we were expecting a child), and they put in a beautiful, meandering pathway that was not too hard in terms of maintenance.  They preserved a lot of the plants that I liked (the peonies in particular, and rejiggered the irrigation to water a small patch of lawn.  They built a small, raised mortared herb garden. He even sent Melinda out to explain each plant before completion so I knew how not to kill the plants.My only gripe was that I think Winterbloom had subcontractors for various bits, and it was sometimes hard to get answers on specific parts of the project.  But, as we were in no rush, it wasn't an issue.

They are fantastic! The whole team is creative, professional, punctual and positive. Their pricing is fair, they work hard to accomodate your schedule and are truly enjoyable to be around.

I liked his knowledge of what would grow best where and as it matures it would still fit.  We wanted color in the yard year round and he went above and beyond that and relandscaped not just plants but the physical layout which is much more easier to use.

I really liked them. They had done some work for me years ago and so, I decided to use them again. I am really happy with the work that they did. They were prompt and punctual. They kept me informed me about the progress. I knew when they were coming out. Their service was top-notch. I would refer them to others. Even though, they are a little expensive, their quality is great. You cannot replace the quality. I have a lot of confidence in the work that they do. They are responsive and they are concerned about the environment. I will use them again in the future.
