The prices at Two Rivers Veterinary Clinic are quite high compared to other Portland-area vets, but the service received is worth it!
I've been looking for a vet who provides accupuncture and chiropractic to supplement what my dog's regular vet can do with Western veterinary medicine. I found Two Rivers on Angie's List (thank you!) and was impressed from beginning to end. The receptionists have been very pleasant, helpful and attentive to my dog (think treats!). The vet techs were gentle in their handling of him, and when I asked if I could come with him when he needed blood drawn because he can get very anxious, they simply brought their supplies into our examination room and let me assist in keeping him calm and still. When it looked like he was getting stressed, one of them said to him very sweetly, and quot;I think you need a break.and quot; They let him relax and then proceeded when he was ready. It was quite a contrast with vet techs I've seen at other clinics who simply wrestle the patient into submission without concern for the animal's stress.
So far I've had appointments with both vets. The first appointment was with Dr. Jordan Nuccio to treat my dog's sudden back problem with accupuncture. The second appointment was with Dr. Nancy Curan for an ear infection. I wouldn't hesitate to see either of them again as they are both exceptional. In fact, we have a follow-up appointment next week.
Both vets were a hit with my dog (yes, it did involve more treats!) and with me. They asked excellent questions. I'm accustomed to having vets ask about his diet and medical history but they asked questions I've never ben asked before including whether he snored and how he got along with other dogs. They both listened attentively and asked relevant follow-up questions that made it clear they were interested in really getting to know my dog and not just his symptoms. They provided clear explanations as they examined him, took my questions seriously and provided treatment options that I could choose from. They are happy to work in tandem with my dog's regular vet, and to work up a long-term wellness plan for my senior dog as well as treat him for acute problems.
My dog was completely comfortable with Dr. Nuccio's accupuncture treatment and the medications prescribed by both her and Dr. Curan have had excellent results. They know what they are doing. I also appreciated being told that the clinic could call my dog's prescription into the Fred Meyer pharmacy near my house which would fill it at a much lower cost.
Be forewarned---this is not a clinic that will have you in and out in 20 minutes your first visit. We only waited a few minutes before being taken in for an appointment but it was so thorough that we were there a good hour and a half. I may be a very busy person but I'm happy to have found a clinic with personable, knowledgeable doctors and staff that will spend the time needed to provide quality care for my dog. They called after the first appointment to see how he was doing, called the day after the second appointment to give me his test results as soon as they came in and even sent me a survey so that I could provide feedback.
Thank you, Two Rivers. I'm glad I found you.
The office is beautiful, the staff are professional and very welcoming. Abby had been on prednisone for months and I desperately wanted to lower the dose and eventually get her off the medication if at all possible. A combination of Chinese tea pills and flower essences were prescribed and have had an amazing effect on Abby's health and well being. I have been able to lower the dose already and will be steadily lowering it over time to see how she does. At her follow-up visit probiotics were added.
The initial visit charge is higher because of the length of time she spends with each client and their animal. I wish I could have started with Dr. Curran - she is an exceptional vet with a deep love and respect for animals that is obvious and much appreciated.
