TUFF SHED INC - Portland

Things didn't start out too well when the salesman sent the construction crew to the wrong address. I was very impressed with how the crew organized, each person had a job and stayed out of the others way. They had the shed up in 6 hours. The quality was very good except for the roofing installation. The courses weren't straight and the eave trim was bent. on one side ( I have roofed several buildings and know a good roofing job) . The day they built the shed was warm and they wanted to quit early.

The shed was extensively customized to take advantage of the size limitations that we wanted, which were that we did not exceed the size limitations of a shed not requiring building permits and inspections which would have added to the time and cost.  While we were at it we also added a great deal of window exposure for natural lighting.
The day of the build was one of the worst weather we had experienced in a long time both for wind and rain but they showed up on time ready to build.  The build was then compounded by my cement pad not being poured properly (another story for another review).  They were undaunted and continued on making the appropriate adjustments and completed the shed the following day.  Given the weather, it was short of amazing.
The only reason that the did not get an "A" rating is two-fold:
First, I had arranged for both SilverTech siding for current heat barrier and vapor barrier sheeting in anticipation of potentially insulating in the future.  This is not normally done, but I arranged for it and paid for it.  I noticed it did not have the SilverTech siding during the build.  I called the salesman and, while they made the case that both were not necessary, I approved the build with the appropriate adjustment to the final invoice, but quite frankly this was a disappointment and should not have happened. Either Tuff Shed should have been very clear about the lack of value when I was making the purchase -or- they should have done something to honor their contractual agreement no matter what.
Second, when I was defining the build, I wanted a drop-down staircase attached to the rear of the loft.  During the final walkthrough, I was shown the staircase and it was in the middle of the loft and the staircase drops down into the center of the main floor.  When I question the builder, he stated that he would have had to build framing to accomplish what I wanted.  He also indicated that he had no specific instructions so he placed it where he thought it was best.  At no time was I consulted as to the location and I was on site during the whole build.  Up to the walkthrough I was under the assumption that I was getting the staircase as agreed.  As it was the final walkthrough I decided to give it a try.  I am not sure that the staircase will be usable at all or if I will have to remove/disable it - I may do so anyway so that I do not lose the loft space that I was planning on.

After determining the type we wanted, we went to Tuff Shed on Halsey and met with Craig Terry, who was very informative, pleasant and certainly took the time to understand what we were looking for. We didn't want just any old shed, and we didn't want to pay for one of those and quot;Pro Studiosand quot; at just under $9K! Craig was able to come up with a solution that fit all of my needs and it looks fantastic too. There was a slight hiccup with getting what we wanted approved, however Craig, being the Rockstar that he is got everything smoothed over and we got what we wanted. There were no additional charges, the installers were actually 10 minutes early and had it done in 4 hours!!! Everyone was pleasant to work with and I would definitely recommend Tuff Shed?portland to anyone who asks me.

Contracted for a 12'X10' Barn style shed, with two sky lights with vents, window, shelf and a Double Door. The 2 man crew showed up on time. Completed the entire shed in 1 day. It was done very well. The crew were professional and worked safely and quickly. We have had no complaints with either the shed or the individuals who did the work. We would use this company again and recommend them.

The salesman was great. We had good service, he was very knowledgeable and answered questions. Product quality was great. We were not impressed by the installation. We gave them the measurements on where it should sit and they did not get it there. The quality of their finished work was mediocre.

Well the sales person was great he was very helpful, but my husband and i wanted 2 feet larger shed. So we were quoted a price we thought it was an awesome price so we agreed. Then we were told it would be more! Of coarse i was angry more money ,but the salesperson offered to pay $100 we had to pay another $230 on top of our deposit of $500! Communication between salesperson and the builders didn't happen! The builders were upset because they had to take down our fence to get to our back yard, but the end result the shed is great and they were great with time !

Very good! The guys who installed the shed were very nice and worked hard. Eveything went according to schedule.

It went beautifully. We were amazed how fast the workers put the structure up! And they did it all efficiently and with a smile. They were very professional, and friendly. We have now had this shed for a couple of months and we just love it. We would recommend Tuff Shed to anyone looking for a good quality shed - complete with excellent customer service!

They were late in arriving; had hit a snag at the morning's installation. When they arrived they went right to work and were very nice and very professional. They worked with me on the exact location, which way the door should open and confirmed which sized windows went on which wall. Then they went to work! It took them about 6 hours to build it, and I love it!

I would urge caution before using this company. There was no groundwork done and I had to contract myself for the cement slab. They never inspected the slab or gave me much in the way of guidance for the slab beyond what the city required. When they came out to construct the building, they were missing the ridge vent that I had ordered and one window. Everything that was constructed at their shop had flaws. Everything they put together on site was well done. They have been out four times in the last year before finally replacing a leaky window. On site they were professional, but not on the phone or in the shop. The prefabrication work was shoddy, but the on site work was very professional. I shouldn’t have had to have them out four times to correct stuff.

Salesman was straightforward with the choices and what options he recommends. Crew that put up the shed was friendly and did very solid work. The only complaint would be the guy they recommend to lay gravel as a base. I'd asked him to lay weed fabric that I provided. When I wasn't watching he put out the gravel with no fabric and now I get weeds around my shed. He is not employed by Tuff Shed who I would call excellent.

After comparing sheds offered at a pair of home improvement stores, we settled on a 12 x 10 Tuff Shed, mainly because the quality of materials was better than some of the other brands. Tuff Shed also offered many styles and upgrades. We placed the order with the representative at one home improvement store, specifying the placement of a window and skylight. Tuff Shed called the next day to schedule the installation. The two builders showed up on time with all the correct materials and plans. It took them about 4-5 hours to build, even though one guy was clearly training the other guy. They were both friendly and professional, and did nice quality work. We were very pleased with the results. Having the company install the shed was a new experience for us since we are avid DIYs. This saved us many days/months of hassle so we can move things out of our basement and old shed, allowing us to get to work on remodeling the basement itself. Tuff Shed also had a special running with a $200 rebate, which took about eight wks to arrive in the mail.

Overall, it was a pretty good experience. We had some problems with damage to our cement foundation prior to the shed being placed and when my husband and I made repeated calls to the manager, it was hard to get a call back. But, in the end, we received a small price adjustment (only because we really pursued it). The quality of the shed is ok, could be better quality for the money, but we are happy.

We were unhappy with the work but it stemmed from the salesperson, Mick. First, he designed the shed incorrectly and had the entry facing a retaining wall that would have made it inaccessible. The builders were able to correct the mistake but it took extra time and they had to have extra help. Secondly, we were not happy with the paint color. Mick knew that we were trying to match the color of our house and only gave us a brochure of colors to choose from. Tiles are available that show exactly how the color will dry, but he never offered those to us and we only found out about them after the fact. When we expressed that we were unhappy with the color, they did nothing to try and satisfy us. NOTHING. When I told them we had a salesperson with a brochure showing colors that they knew were going to be different from the finished result, we were told that was our problem. WE WILL NEVER WORK WITH THEM AGAIN.

From start to finish - excellent, excellent, excellent. Sales representative, Mike Fazio, and installers Justin, Corey and Jason were professional at all times. Installers arrived at job site EARLY and worked nonstop through the day. This experience was extremely refreshing and restores our faith in excellent customer service.

The guys were professional and hard working. The shed is really cute and well built. They even finished in less time than they said it would take.

I wasn't overwhelmed with the quality of the material, particularly the X stock. But the builders did a good job raising it, did it well and quickly.

Salepersons were ok, 1st person we talked to was very helpful, 2nd person seemed distracted. The builder/installers were great, worked on one of the hottest days of the year. Did a great job, paid attention to detail. Took the time to do it right. Seemed to take pride in doing a good job. Cleaned up when done.

THEY WERE VERY PROMPT AND KNOWLEDGEABLE REGARDING THE BUILDING OF THE SHED. THEY WERE EASY TO WORK WITH AND WERE VERY GOOD ABOUT CLEANING UP AFTER THE SHED WAS COMPLETED.

I FEEL, FOR THE QUALITY OF PRODUCT, IT WAS SOMEWHAT OVERPRICED. TOOK THEM 3 TIMES OUT TO GET IT PAINTED RIGHT. NOW THE DOOR LATCH STICKS AND THE LOCK IS HARD TO OPEN.
