I stripped wallpaper from the living room and dining walls of our 1926 lathe and plaster home. I needed a skilled hand to come in and skim coat the walls, enter Tim Miller. I received 3 estimates and Tim's was not the cheapest, but close. What's more important, I got the feeling from chatting with him that he was a master at his trade and his Angie's reviews were stellar. Tim showed up for work at 8am, sharp, on a Monday morning. He finished the job slightly ahead of schedule and I paid him the full amount with no regrets. He did everything he said he'd do, plus a little more. In addition, I asked him a lot of questions and learned a lot about my old house. The guy is excellent at his trade and I've already referred one of co-workers to him.

Let me say that I have worked with many contractors and Tim does beautiful work. He arrived on time; worked quickly and steadily each day, with no interruptions. He cleaned up each evening. His estimates were right on the mark. I expected it to take longer. I couldn't be happier with the experience.
Description of Work: I have a 1936 house with lath and plaster throughout. We replummed the house; 4 bathrooms, 4 exterior faucets; kitchen; 3 floors. The walls were peppered with holes for replacement pipes. Tim plastered all holes; primed and painted; including the repair of a crack in the ceiling that was overdue for fixing. One wall had wallpaper and Tim prepared the the edges to accept new wallpaper. There were several tricky holes in tight corners; and several in our living and dining areas. The job took 2.5 days (20 hours + $100 materials).

Tim came to look at the job the same afternoon we first spoke to him and gave us a rough estimate of how much his time and material costs would be. He was able to begin with a couple of days. He showed up on time every day, and protected the floors in his work area. After beginning the plaster repairs, he took samples of the paint and had the color matched, so paint was ready when the plaster was ready to receive it. Four days later, the library ceiling, the foyer walls, the upstairs landing and hallway ceiling and walls look incredible.
Description of Work: On both walls and ceilings, Tim filled cracks, took out plaster that was pulling away from the studs and patched those areas, and then painted. He had to prime the upstairs ceiling with oil based primer to cover some ancient water stains from a prior leak.

We were not expecting this as we were in the middle of redoing the living room....so found Tim on Angies list and called, explained the situation and need for a rush job...he was there the next afternoon to review the job and started the following morning....he was delightful to work with, he worked so hard for two days and did a great job...if I had found him before the other painter I would have had him do the whole job...lesson learned call Tim first!!!
Description of Work: Following removal of wallpaper, by another contractor, we were told the walls were in need of skimcoating to repair pitting prior to having it painted.

Pretty much told the story in the previous section.
Description of Work: We needed plaster repair on our living and dining room walls and ceilings. We needed these done in a hurry because we had scheduled our floors to be re-finished. Tim came for an estimate the same day I called and adjusted his schedule so he could start & finish before the floor crew. He was punctual and his work was excellent. He had to re-do something ( not his fault) and came back without extra charge to make the job right. I enjoyed dealing with him and would recommend him to anyone. An old-time believer in quality and ethic al work standards!

Tim is excellent. The quality of his work is impeccable, and he has the knowledge and experience to provide advice on details of the project that we would not have considered. He was available promptly to provide a quote, and finished the project in the amount of time he had anticipated. He left the house as clean as he found it. We could not be happier with his work.

Excellent! We've worked with Tim in the past and are always impressed with his work. This time was no exception. He truly cares about the quality of his work and working on your home. His knowledge base is outstanding; he understands and appreciates the craftsmanship of older homes. Tim does a great job and is a great person to boot!

Tim is the best painter I have ever worked with (and I've worked with several over 18 years of home ownership). Careful, responsive, neat, professional, prompt, and skilled at his job. The rooms look great. He came over quickly to bid the job, helped with paint selection, had a lot of great suggestions that saved me from the consequences of my ignorance, and is just a low-key, positive, non-intrusive, friendly person I was happy to have in my home. Also, there were two tiny things to finish after he was paid, and he showed up in a flash to do them with a big smile. What a guy!
Description of Work: I hired Tim to paint four rooms in my home. A couple of them were tricky and involved a lot of woodwork. He also repaired a few nasty spots on the walls.

We couldn't be more pleased with Tim's professionalism, attitude and work performed. It was a big job and he was on the job for several weeks. He was prompt, put in a full day's work, cleaned up after himself every day (as well as he could for the messy job that plastering is). He was good natured about fixing things that weren't quite right (and changing the color on the dining room that didn't come out like we'd hoped), and even was able to help match some woodwork stain that was outside the scope of the job he was here for, but we were at a loss as to how to go about it. He gave me some good ideas about color choices when I was having troubles deciding. He had good attention to detail, both in plastering and painting. We are really pleased with the way the walls look.
Description of Work: Tim skim-coated and repaired plaster in three downstairs rooms and all the hallways to a smooth surface, then painted the walls, ceilings, and trim. Our 120 year old house walls were mostly lath and plaster, but had been patched with occasional drywall or other materials, and had some cracks and holes. Tim anchored the plaster that was loose, knocked out and re-plastered any sections too damaged to anchor, and smoothed the walls before priming and painting.

Tim did an incredible job. He came by twice to look at our walls before and after the wallpaper had been removed and we decided on payment by time and materials and set a start date. He arrived promptly and worked continuously over a period of 9 days. He told us it would be messy (sanding plaster always is) and we were prepared for it. He has been doing this for many years and is a master craftsman. He was very easy to have in our home despite our cramped quarters and made every effort to stay out of our way as he worked.
Description of Work: Skim coated 3 times the old plaster (after 5 layers of wallpaper had been removed), primed and painted the ceilings, walls and lots of wood trim in two hallways, a large living room/dining room and a bedroom in our 1907 home.

We hired Tim after seeing his work at one of our client's homes. We were impressed and our client seemed very happy with him. We hired him first to paint our kitchen. He painted all the walls, ceiling and re-plastered some missing spots there as well as above our living room fireplace. Recently we had him paint the entry way of our business. It's a high traffic area and he was able to do it in record time while working around our clients and employees coming in and out all day. We liked him so much we've given up on doing any painting ourselves and will just hire Tim in the future. We were told by our client that he may be more expensive hourly than some, but he makes up for it in speed and craftsmanship. We were amazed that this was true and our final cost was less than estimates from other companies. I don't mean to gush, but its just nice to not feel ripped off by a service provider...it's rare!
Description of Work: Tim painted, on different occasions, our kitchen and entryway. He also re-plastered a missing area in our kitchen as well as a large area above our fireplace.

Tim Miller is without doubt the finest workman we've ever had to do work in our home. He came out promptly to bid on our jobs and fitted us into his busy schedule as soon as he could. In the end the job was much more difficult than he (or we) had expected, as there were unforeseen problems that arose after the initial work was completed. He cheerfully came back several times to do the additional repairs and finally to completely repaint. Each time he returned, it was following a full work day for him, yet he willingly put in two to three more hours as needed to do the work, rather than fitting us in at a later date. We expected that there would be additional charges but he assured us that his bid was for a finished job and he'd keep coming back till the results were satisfactory. Along the way he gave us considerable advice and suggestions for further painting that we are planning to do ourselves. In addition to being a skilled and careful worker, Tim is a most congenial person, a pleasure to have working in one's home.
Description of Work: Painted badly mildewed bathroom ceiling with mildew-resistant paint. Repaired plaster ceiling in living room and repainted. Living room ceiling had suffered extensive water damage from previous leaks and needed extensive repairs before the final painting could be done.

Tim did a great job! Looks like professional work. He matched the paint color to our existing trim perfectly; very neat. Tim was very nice to work with. The final charge for the work was approximately $400 less the original estimate; he completed the work 1 day earlier than expected.
Description of Work: Painted trim, doors and molding in several areas throughout our craftsman bungalow.
