TERESA'S POOL AND SPA CARE

Teresa arrived 40 minutes early and started the cleaning right away. We discussed the chemicals we use in our spa, and she started draining the tub into the downspout I showed her to use. About 10 minutes later, I brought her the chemicals we use, and was surprised that the tub was empty, and that she was refilling it so quickly. I noticed that she was not filling the spa according to the manufacturer's recommendation (a specific way this tub should be filled to avoid an airlock). I mentioned this, and showed her how to fill it properly. I was surprised, when less than 20 minutes later, she was at our front door, telling me the job was done. Truthfully, I was caught off completely off guard, and didn't go to inspect the work. I wrote her a check, and she left. Total time on the job was less than 50 minutes. I went and looked at the tub, and was immediately upset. The cover was not cleaned thoroughly, with areas that were still completely dirty, with swipe marks visible, and areas where dirt had collected (in depressions, around the cover handles, and on the ends of the cover) still grimy and obviously not cleaned (in the past, every other company I used cleaned the cover and also put a coat of sealant or polish on the naugahyde...It didn't even occur to me to ask if she did that). There are also areas on the inside of the cover which still have dirt and grime and have not been cleaned. Inside the tub there are areas which obviously did not get cleaned...there is still grime on the floating skimmer and inside the filter chamber. I also noticed air bubbling through one of the blower valves, which may indicate a partial airlock (have had them in the past). Teresa had put our new spa filter into place incorrectly (which cost $100.00 each). Additionally, our downspout, where I had directed her to drain the water, has been damaged. It is pulled out of alignment, the joints at top and bottom are wrenched, and the lower joint has had the screw completely stripped out of the metal. This might account for her hurry to leave, and not have me inspect her work. The range quoted on her website and by phone indicated that a drain, clean and fill of a spa ranged from $100-$150.00. In the past, I've paid anywhere from $100.00 to $180.00 for a drain and fill on our spa. I was surprised to be charged the full $150.00, as the time on the job was so short. The workmanship is absolutely the worst I've received for this type of service, and now there is damage to our downspout which needs repairing. I stopped payment on the check I wrote this morning, as I will need to either re-do the cleaning myself, or hire another company to come do what should have been done correctly by Teresa in the first place. One of the reasons I chose this company was to support a woman-owned business, as I am a business-owner myself. I will not rehire or recommend this company.

She is smart and pleasant to talk with and seems to have good experience. She has been doing this for 15 years.
