June 12, 2025. Our AC unit quit working. Called SUNSET, they had help on the way in less than 48 hours (we had called late at night after being out of town). First Julian (tech) arrived and then Mike (field supervisor) attempted to diagnose the problem that took some serious hunting on their part!! Found a part that had failed the size of a nickel. They wouldn't give up. Everything running great, all good! Thanks, Sunset.

These guys are out and out crooks. Sold me a faulty Lennox air conditioner in 2016 one year after a class action lawsuit against Lennox for faulty evaporator coils. Mine went out even before five years but they were striking me along with every cleaning. It never worked right. Turns out only a 5 (?) warranty if you don't mail in some piece of paper buried in the technical papers taped to the unit. (In some states you get the full 10 years regardless of the piece of paper, but Oregon, no. Why?) I did not know this and they never informed me. They must have known this was one of those faulty units. Don't trust these guys with anything.

Bait and Switch professionals. Not 100 years in business with these owners and managers. Knowingly delivered and installed the wrong equipment, caught them, they did it again!! Stay away from this company, they are not honest, lots of HVAC contractors, pick another, stay away from Sunset!

First strike: they installed a mini-split and it stopped working after 5 minutes because a fan blade was bent and the fan could not turn. Apparently they didn't test it after installation. It was a real pain getting them to come out and fix it. Now we notice the heat pipe they installed on the exterior of the house is crooked. Second strike: our furnace went out and we called for service. The technician said the valve was likely broken and it'd be a $1000 repair. He then tried to sell us on a replacement furnace and air conditioner. The next day I watched a youtube video ([*** Link removed ***] and fixed it myself. I just had to clean some corrosion out of the pressure sensor port. So: are the technicians so poorly trained that I know more after watching a youtube video, or are they trained to just tell you it's broken so they can sell a new furnace? Sunset refuses to give a refund for this "service" visit.

I installed a new AC until in May 2021. The business went under and Sunset absorbed the customers. The unit malfunctioned in May 2023 and the service guy told us how poor a job the last company did and how we probably need to do a lot of repair or maybe even replace the unit we had just saved up to purchase 2 years prior. They followed up with a barrage of emails with quotes of all types of options i had to "fix" the problem the last company had created p oh and also btw - they refuse to honor any warranty given by the previous installation company so there's that. 8/15/23 - we wake up on the hottest day of the year and no AC. Animals children and family in house. I call immediately and they are kind and say the technician will be out between 12-8 and will call 30 minutes prior for a more exact time. I wait at home, in the heat for 8 hours, no one shows up, i receive no phone call. 8/16 - I call again, they apologize and promise it will be fixed and give me the window 12-5. Again NO SHOW NO CALL. 8/17 I call pretty mad at this point and they swear it will be today between 2-5pm. My partner takes off work bc I have a dr appt I can't change. 3:00 they call and reiterate - by 5pm and the tech will call 30 minutes before. Guess what NO SHOW NO CALL. This business is a joke which has put my family at risk by continuously lying about service calls. I waited in the house a total of 16 hours over the last 3 days as they swore it would be fixed. I finally got a real company that will actually show up to fix it. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS

Charged us over $100 to come out, said we could use that towards our service needed. Quoted us over $1000. Had a second company come in, fixed our AC for less than $50 with diagnostics. I would not recommend this business, unfortunately their bottom line is money and and customer service or experience.

We came back from the 02/2021 storm to find 1/2 of our office's electrical was not working. Francine Harmon was fast and efficient and sent Eric out to review our issues. While it was not a simple fix, he came back out first thing the following day with AJ, another electrician, and was able to restore our power to get our computers, etc. working and was also able to offer solutions to help prevent this in the future. You are all fast, professional, kind, and extremely efficient and are an asset to Sunset. We thank you, our clients thank you, and look forward to giving you our future business and referrals. They did not over charged me they were on time. Their employees have integrity. They were excellent.

Prompt response and installation work was on time and good quality, and they installed a very good quality heat pump. But we wish we had insisted on a J calculation as we found out later that the heat pump was oversized.

The tech sent to my home literally showed my teenage daughter a pornographic image on his phone. Joseph Teach acted like he was showing her a picture of some wires (why would he even do that?), Swiped over to a very pornographic image then, without apologizing, commented “a friend of mine sent me that“. He then immediately asked my daughter her age. My daughter is under 5 feet tall and literally looks like she’s 14 at the most, though she is 18. When I called the service manager to complain, his response was “come on, everyone has something on their phone that they’re embarrassed about”. I spoke to the owner and, though they did issue a partial credit for the work they did, he made it clear that he values that employee and would be retaining him. Apparently, the image was shown to my daughter on his company – issued phone! There was literally no reason to show my daughter any pictures, let alone a graphic pornographic image. I suspect dark motives on his part towards a girl who could have been underage. Had my daughter not just turned 18, I would have called the police. I would never ever use this company again.

Job was done very well. Had a leaking pipe later but Sunset sent their tech to fix the problem.

Responded quickly and work was done properly and well. Very confident hiring these people and will again if needed.

Sunset heating and cooling came out on 4 different occasions to repair our AC. First they repaired a leak and filled the unit with coolant and charged $ 670. Then 2 weeks later the unit was blowing hot air, they came back out, said we had another leak unrelated to the first leak, said we had to replace our coiling system and charged 1800.00 to repair. They came back out (after 3 weeks of waiting for the part) put in the new coil and replaced the coolant. The unit worked for less that 24 hours. They came back out 2 days later. Found a supposed third leak, unrelated to the other 2 leaks, and repaired it. My husband asked how that area could have gotten a leak in it. That repair person said the other guy must have hit it when he did the first repair. So basically we never needed to pay 1800.00 for the new coiling system, they have incompetent people working for them. Immediately after the last repair the unit started leaking water onto the wood that it sits on. We have asked them to fix this. They do not call back. They have not offered any type of refund. They're terrible.

I'm very satisfied with their work,, and they are very responsive and professional. I think using the same company for nine years speaks for itself.

The customer service representative was reasonably thorough and was able to answer all of my questions and was excellent at being responsive to all of my questions. The only reason for the B is that I feel like sometimes to best serve the customer he could have provided me with more information up front. For example, because they are a Lenox provider he could have asked if I was a Costco member because members get a 10% discount on the purchase. Instead I had to ask about it. The engineer was excellent. At the last minute we wanted to add an air filter system and the technicians said it couldn't be done. I contacted our representative and he got the engineer out to the house that day and they came up with a solution. They were not the cheapest option but I went with them because of their service and I was not disappointed.

They help me purchase the correct filter type and suggest economic settings for the seasons on my thermostat.
