I have a fairly new Honda mower that started first time every time, until a short while ago. A neighbor and I were unable to figure out what the problem was but we both expected it was something simple. I finally called Stark Street Lawn and Garden because they are the nearest authorized Honda service center (in case the problem fell within the parameters of the warranty). I took the mower in the day after I spoke to someone at Stark Street. Joseph came out immediately to talk with me and check the mower. Although he got it started, I decided to leave the mower with him so they could check it out thoroughly and find out why it wasn't starting easily. He was very candid about how long the turnaround might be (two weeks or longer, since they were currently short-handed). Happily, Ken called a little over a week later to let me know the mower was ready for pick-up. He explained that a little water had gotten into the gas tank, how that could have happened, and how I can deal with the problem if it happens again. I appreciated Joseph's candor, Ken's explanation and suggestions, and the price - I was charged the basic fee only. And the mower was cleaner than when I brought it in. I liked that!

This is the second time we have used Stark for the reel mower. (We have been reasonably satisfied with their work on our gas mower.) Although they told us they'd get back to us in 3 weeks, they in fact had the job finished within a week.
When I got the mower home and tried a test on the front lawn it was set on the lowest setting, less than an inch. Once I had diagnosed that and raised the blades it was still very difficult to push and noisy from contact between the spinning blades and the cutting (shear) bar. If I had wanted to push around a blocking sled I would have played football in high school. After 15 minutes of experimenting with a socket wrench followed by a quick tutorial on YouTube (note the wrong order of these two operations) I was able to adjust the cutting bar so there was minimal noise, the mower pushed easily and cut well. (The concern about noise is that I imagine that the sound of metal on metal is quickly ruining my expensive sharpening without contributing anything to cutting the grass. The guy who made the YouTube video said that his technical sources recommend that the space between blades and bar should be little enough that the mower will cut a piece of paper, but in his experience, this is too close.)
If an amateur can adjust the cutting bar correctly I would expect that the technicians at Stark Street could do the same. I realize that their business is very slow all winter followed by a deluge of desperate customers, both residential and commericial. I also realize that their technicians have to be able to work on a huge array of lawn machinery made by a large number of different companies.
I also realize that sharpening a reel mower is an almost lost and difficult art, but next year some other business will be sharpening mine.

They really polished it up. It came out cleaner than the new one. The price and the quality were very good. I would use them in the future.

I have called around the city looking for a business that repaired corded electric Snapper lawn mowers. This was the first business that would recommend another company.

I called about an electric branch pruner to see if they carried parts to see if I could fix it myself. I had been told by Parkrose Repair (who didn't even look at it) that it would cost more in labor to fix it than it cost.. Stark St. Repair told me they carried the chains and could order the guide, which I thought were the problem. I decided to bring it in with me. The parts man looked at it, replaced the chain and showed me how to maintain it in the future. He only charged me for the chain and a can of lubricant. He was very helpful.
