Scholls Ferry Auto promptly returned messages, was ready to work on my Jeep immediately, gave me an initial estimate, found the problems quickly, did the repairs accurately, billed me fairly, and I have had no problems since. My previous auto service shop was unable to root cause these problems nor were they able to fix them for long. I will be a repeat customer for Scholls Ferry Auto whenever I need auto repairs.

Great (as always). I've been having my cars worked on by Scholls Ferry Automotive since they opened, and over the years have great confidence in their work and appreciate their excellent service. I take pride in keeping my cars running well for over 10 years, and with their professionalism can do so. I had a strong feeling that the front wheel bearings were going out on the Cherokee because the noise was becoming more apparent. Made an appointment with Gabe, discussed the problem, dropped the car off the night before with the key drop. Kris called back with confirmation of the problem and suggested the axles should also be replaced. He also mentioned they had found a coolant leak and suggested that the thermostat be replaced. The work was done by 3 p.m. The overall price was less than originally quoted because it took less labor than expected to complete the work.
I also mentioned to Kris that I had seen on Angie's List that they gave discounts to military and vets. Being a military retiree, this saved me an additional 10 percent.
Thanks guys!

The reason I am writing this review is to comment on the very high level of professionalism and integrity of the staff at Scholl's Ferry Automotive. In this area, the staff went way above and beyond the level I would have expected--even from an Angie's List Award recipient.

I would never go back there again because the job they did caused another problem. I then went back two more times and each time I went back they kept telling me it was something else that was wrong. After spending over $300 I went to another shop on Monday and they told me what was wrong and it was something that they had damaged when they were working on my car. I'm done with them. I use to use them regularly so this could have just been a minor blip but I don't know.

I take all four of our cars to them. They're good at troubleshooting and fixing problems. I'm most impressed with the fact that they don't always come up with something that's wrong. Sometimes, if I take a car in there for just general service, they'll tell me they tried as hard as they could to find something wrong with it and they couldn't it. They just change the oil and send it back. They seem to be honest with their evaluations on what a car needs.

I was VERY VERY unhappy with the customer service at this shop. The contact person was rude, and the scheduling was very very inconvenient for me. I was very clear in my desire to have a full diagnostic work up done on my car, because i was considering selling. They made 700$ in repairs and told me the car was well worth it to keep. When i returned to the shop to have an oil change a couple weeks later, they added on a large and costly repair that they insisted was necessary. This was after they INSISTED they needed the car for an entire day (which was difficult for me) and then had all repairs done in a matter of 3 hours. This diagnostic was SUPPOSED to have been completed on my initial visit. Had I known about the extra repair, I may have decided to sell the car.
All attempts to work this out was met with an extremely condescending attitude.
Regardless of the quality of work done, I will NEVER return to this shop based on this experience!

The superior service that Scholl's Ferry Automotive provided to remedy this problem of my issues with a gas tank
led me to write this review. I found the level of customer service from Scholl's Ferry Automotive
to be professional, of high quality and a model for other auto repair shops to strive for in Portland.
My wife was not able to fill the tank in her Kia, and we were frustrated and did not know what the issue was and what
the origin of the problem was. It was a problem that was not allowing us to use the car at all, and
we could not discern what was causing the issue.
I appreciated the approach that Kris and Gabe took in remedying the problem. Gabe told me he would try to have the car done over the weekend, and to my surprise, he was able to get to the heart of the problem and solved it over the course
of a Saturday. It certainly helps when mechanics get to the work in such a timely manner.
Kris explained to me how they found the problem: they pulled the gas tank off the car and inspected it. Eventually, they found a block in the gas line leading to the gas tank, which was causing the problem. I liked how the mechanics seemed to
be up for the challenge of finding and solving the issue, kind of like automotive detectives.
I was charged for the labor to pull the tank off, and to put it back, and that was the primary charge, which was about $200.00.
I thought that was fair, and either Gabe or Chris called me promptly to tell me that had solved the problem and
got my wife's car back on the road on time and for a reasonable price.
Not sure that I could have asked for better service. Prompt, efficient, and Gabe and Kris are genuinley nice guys to talk to. I appreciated that they explained precisely how they fixed the problem and were
able to avoid replacing the tank, which would've cost far more. Great work.

It's a family run business, and we've always had great experiences for the past 10 years that we've used their services. They did a good job of communicating what needed to be done, provided an accurate estimate of the costs, and completed the work on schedule. Furthermore, they charged a competitive price and did a great job with the repairs. The car is running just fine now.

It went well. I used this service provider for many years. The super-nice guys at Scholls Ferry Automotive were always attentive and helpful. They answer as many questions as I have regarding the how, when and why of a repair, and often offered advice that saved me time and money. They would perform small repairs free of charge on occasion because I was a loyal customer. I think they always did their best. I had one repair that had to be re-done several times due to the fact that the part was not a genuine Subaru part. Not specializing in Subarus, they didn't know that that particular part HAD to be Subaru. They made it right without complaint. I did start going to a Subaru specialist after that for major mechanical issues with the car after that.

They took a look and indicated all was solid, but recommended I get an alignment. The owner drove me back to my office and everyone was professional and prompt.

We have a 1998 Pathfinder and these mid to late model vehicles all have a flaw in the rear suspension. The problem is isolated to the suspension components, most notably the control arm bushings. You can replace the bushings or full control arms to reduce/eliminate the problem. The issue is instability in the back end of the vehicle (wobble - NTB98-001). I purchased the necessary components from an online Nissan parts dealer (providing ~20% discount on OEM parts). They cost $475 including bolts and all four control arms. Since I knew it would be difficult to replace I contacted Scholls Ferry Auto whom has worked on our car before. I got a quote of $162. This is just under 2 hours of labor. I arranged appointment and dropped vehicle off for the day--should be doable in less than one day. They had a difficult time with the bolts and mentioned it may take longer than allocated time/day. They ended up having to cut them out (torch frozen bolts). I kind of anticipated the difficulty. At one point they said they would need the car an extra day but I called back before they closed and they had the work completed. Total cost was $244.88. Seemed reasonable but I think their labor rates are in line with a dealership so I might as well have gone to the dealer. One item of note, Les Schwab wouldn't do the work if they didn't buy the parts so a dealership maybe the same way with me depriving them of ~$100-$150 in part savings. When I inspected the work it looked like they put one of the bolts on the wrong direction (end gets a little close to other suspension parts). So I've knocked these guys down a little for quality and that attention to detail which you might get from another shop. I setup my appointment via E-mail with Kris and he was very good at responding back.

They were great. I thought I had problems with my car, but after the inspection they informed me that it was a simple maintenance issue. I applaud that honest and direct manner. I will definitely use them again for future needs!

Noticed slight pulsation when braking our 1999 Grand Cheroke. Called for appointment on Saturday and was scheduled for appointment on Wednesday. Dropped car off the Tuesday night with keys and info envelope in drop-box. Chris called early Wednesday a.m. and said that after checking all the brakes, the fronts needed servicing. Gave me a quick estimate and said that the car should be ready some time in the afternoon. Called me again at 1 p.m. and said that the car was ready for pickup.
I've been going to Scholls Ferry for over 30 years (since they spun off from Scholls Ferry Chevron), and have always been extremely satisfied with their work and advice. The mechanics are very qualified and do great work. Over the years, I have extreme confidence and a high level of trust in their work. Their prices and labor rates are extremely competitive and reasonable. They guarantee their work and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Chris and Gabe both work very hard at communicating and ensuring the customer is kept up to date with unforeseen problems or delays. This is a great business, and I would not consider going elsewhere.

They did a great job and had the car back to me quickly. They saved me money they didn't have to, and inspected the rear brakes and replaced them. All was on-time and at a very fair price.

First of all, they had the brakes done within half a day. Then I brought the car back in on Wednesday for the head gasket work, and I just called them this morning (Friday) to see how it was going. Kris told me it's all back together and running, and they just need to run some final tests on it, then I can pick it up this afternoon.
I use Scholls Ferry Automotive for all my repair needs, and I'm going to start having them change the oil as well. I'm fed up with OIL CAN HENRY's always trying to sell me engine cleaners, transmission fluid flushes, etc. Kris and all the people at Scholls Ferry Automotive are friendly, helpful, willing to answer all my questions, and most importantly, I can trust them. I've brought my car in from time to time, worried that something might be wrong, and they've been happy to check it out no charge. Many times they tell me that everything's okay and nothing needs to be done.
It's a relief knowing that I have an honest, reliable place that I can take my car, and know that they'll do a great job and stand behind their work.
