This used to be my main vet until they started pushing for unnecessary testing all the time and generally being unpleasant and pushy.

The last straw came when I went to buy a bag of the $70 prescription food for my cat. They said since I hadn't been in for a checkup lately they wouldn't be able to sell any more food to me.

I went to Pets on Broadway (pet store) and found a food with identical nutritional information for less than 1/3rd the cost of Rose City Vet. I'm done with them.

I am not that happy with them. They wanted to do a ton of blood work. They are always pushing to spend lots of money for stuff and telling me that I must not be observant of my cat.

My dog had been urinating on my bed for a week or two so I took her in to check for a bladder infection. They stuck a needle into her bladder and took a sample, looked under a microscope and told us they saw a little blood and bacteria. They then prescribed a generic antibiotic . While she was there they looked at her teeth and said she needed a dental procedure in which at least four teeth would need to be removed because they felt a little loose, and gave an estimate for close to $2000.00 to have it done, although they did not specify when.
Because this shocked me, I scheduled a follow up appointment with a veterinarian in Beaverton whom I trust implicitly (Laurelwood Animal Hospital, Lynn Erdman, DVD.) I don't go to her for every day things because she is an hour drive to and from my residence. For anything significant, though, I will make the drive because I know my animals will receive the absolute best possible care. For a simple urinalysis, though, I drove five minutes down Powell to Rose City. Much more convenient.
At the follow up appointment with Dr. Erdman, she checked my dog's teeth she said yes, dental care was needed. But not before any bladder infection that might be present was definitely cleared up, and not before checking with her internal medicine specialist who treats her for Addison's Disease. Addisonian dogs are at high risk of mortality if not treated with utmost caution and their Prednisone dosage carefully monitored. So there was the first shock: that Rose City would recommend dental treatment without going through all the necessary cautionary protocol under supervision of her specialist, placing her in an extremely high risk situation. Dr. Erdman then expressed surprise that Rose City had not sent the urine sample out to a laboratory that would culture it and find out exactly what type of infection she had and prescribe specifically, not generically.
So it would seem that even for something as seemingly routine as a urinalysis, Rose City is not to be trusted. I was so upset by their negligence that I felt I had to write an Angie's list review to warn other pet owners about the dangerously poor treatment my dog received there. Their facility is attractive and the personnel are friendly. Their advertising is good and they offer coffee and cookies. All very appealing. But appearances can be misleading!

I enjoy them, they are top-notch. They are passionate. They care. I think they are a little more extensive but you get what you pay for. I have no problems with them at all. They have always been very thorough with both my cat and my dog.

I switched to Rose City after having several heartbreakingly crappy and shockingly expensive experiences with another vet up the street.
Rose City Vets offer exceptional care to our animals and I have never, ever had the feeling that I was being bilked or taken advantage of. I always feel that they have time to listen; that they listen carefully and address all our concerns. The doctors and staff are compassionate and thorough. I am so grateful to have found Rose City.

I highly recommend this clinic, especially if your pet needs special handling. I left there feeling there were still vets with 'horse-sense' and not all were driven by lab values.

I was refered to Rose City Vet last spring by several friends and family memebers. My dog was not doing well and I was very worried. They diagnosed her with diabeties. The staff and doctors have been so kind and supportive. They've taught us how to administer insulin shots and were very nice and completely put me at ease when I was scared and nervious.
Each time I take my dog in for her checkups and glucose tests she's actually excited to go and see her friends at Rose City! When taking her to my former Vet she fought me all the way from the car.
I would and do highly recomend Rose City Vet to ANYONE!

We usually go to whoever they send us to, but the last time we saw Dr. Martin. Even if they make us wait, they have cookies and soda in the waiting room. We would use them again in the future. We like them.

We went it with a sick puppy and the vet provided me with information on options available and their cost and let me make the decision on which ones to choose. Service was prompt and professional.

They charged $45 for the vaccination. I don't know what other veterinarians in the area charge for that service. I used to love them without reservations, which is not really so true anymore. There are some veterinarians there that are still really good and there are some that I won't let my animals see. If I were recommending them to a friend, I would tell them to see some particular veterinarians whereas 5 years ago I would have said they are all great. I would use them again in the future.

They are great. They are very friendly. The vet called me at home to see how the dog was after a couple of days. It's a very clean, nice place. They offer you treats and drinks. I went to school with the lead vet for a couple years. I'm sure their price is fair.

He is wonderful, professional, responsive. When I go in there he treats me like my dogs are the only ones in the world. I don't have kids I have dogs so this is a great feeling. The staff is friendly, responsive, they answer questions and they have great customer service. The facility is amazingly clean, perfect and top notch.

We had a gift certificate for a free intro check up and and the front desk people were nice but the doctor was very brisk and didn't seem to want to take the time for us. He weighed her and checked her out and said she was fine. And we left.

The teeth cleaning was complicated by the need for multiple extractions and was more expensive then we thought it would be, but on other occasions they have literally saved our pets lives. You go to a vet like this because you care about having all the diagnostics and surgery in one place along with the basic vet care, not because you are trying to save money. With elderly animals, I can complain about the price, but I keep going back.

The receptionist was very friendly and helpful but the Vet was horrible. Condescending to us and very impatient with our dog. Yes, our lab is hyper, but lots of dogs are! He yelled at our dog "SIT!" "SIT!" when anyone that has any experience with dogs knows you don't just stand over them and yell. I wish I remembered his name, but he was younger and had a "faux-hawk". He might be great with cats or older dogs, but if your dog is young or excitable at all I wouldn't take them here.

I had my dog "put to sleep" here and they were terrific. They let me stay in the room, they were respectful. However, when the time came to put our cat down, we had the opposite experience. During the procedure, an assistant came in abruptly to ask questions when we were saying our goodbyes. Our cat had already been given a sedative so this was our final moments with her and the assistant did not give us privacy to do it in. It was appalling. After that was done, they didn't release our cats body for cremation for almost a week even though they said they would the next day. They never called us to let us know. We had to call the crematorium and discover our cats body was apparently missing. Terribly distressing. After contacting Rose City Vet, they told us that they needed to charge an extra amount for a box to transport our cat. They were horribly insensitive and actually made my boyfriend cry more than once. I will never go back. I don't care if someone had a bad day there or didn't know procedure. Losing a pet is emotional and they need to learn how to train their staff better.

My husband took him in. We would take him back. He thought it was good experience. It ended up being more than we thought it would be. We pay price for him. My dog had some blood work done and other stuff.
