Please see the work performed category. I think things went very well and am very pleased with the results. I'm creating an outdoor escape with her help. Plus she is available via email/phone if I have any questions. She really wants to make sure the garden is maintained correctly and enjoyed and takes pride in her work. Highly recommend.

Sally's consultation was aimed at discussing plants that would work and not work with my yard. Because my yard is bare we were starting from scratch. I was hoping to get more concrete help than she was giving. Her suggestions for landscaping were at times unreasonable. I felt like I was being made to feel inferior related to my lack of knowledge about plants. We discussed having her draw up a landscaping plan, which she said she was willing to do, but wouldn't be able to get to it for more than 2 months. We decided not to retain her services for the plan.

"THE HOMEOWNER WAS INFORMED AHEAD OF TIME BY TELEPHONE THAT DURING THE 90 MINUTE CONSULTATION WE WOULD HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DISCUSS ANY QUESTIONS THEY HAD AND I COULD OFFER SOME GENERAL IDEAS DEPENDING ON THEIR SITUATION. AS IT TURNED OUT, THEY HAD A CHALLENGING LOCATION THAT WOULD REQUIRE EXTENSIVE PREP WORK AND SOME HARDSCAPE INSTALLED BEFORE ANY PLANTING COULD TAKE PLACE. DURING THE CONSULT, I GAVE THEM IDEAS FOR HOW TO GET STARTED ON THEIR OWN IN LAYING OUT BEDS AND PATHWAYS AND OFFERED SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR PLANT CHOICES. SINCE THE YARD WAS COMPLETELY BARE, I RECOMMENDED THAT THEY FOCUS MORE ON THE INITIAL DESIGN FIRST AND THEN FILL IN THE DESIGN WITH APPROPRIATE PLANT CHOICES LATER ON. TRYING TO CHOOSE SPECIFIC PLANTS AT THE INITIAL CONSULTATION STAGE WAS INAPPROPRIATE FOR THEIR SITUATION. I INFORMED THEM THAT I WAS BOOKED SOLID FOR MANY WEEKS OUT. AT THE TIME, THEY STATED THEY WOULD BE HAPPY TO WAIT A FEW MONTHS FOR A DESIGN. WITH THE INTENTION OF DOING THE BEST JOB POSSIBLE FOR THE CLIENT, MY PROCESS OF DESIGNING FOR A COMPLETELY BARE YARD INVOLVES AN EXTENSIVE INTERVIEW PROCESS, BEYOND THE INITIAL CONSULTATION, TAKING THE CLIENTS LIFESTYLE INTO ACCOUNT, HOW MUCH TIME THEY HAVE, THEIR BUDGET, THEIR LIKES AND DISLIKES AND OTHER FACTORS. EXPECTING TO HAVE A DESIGN OR FULL PLANT LIST COMPLETED DURING A 1 HOUR CONSULTATION IS UNREALISTIC, GIVEN THE MANY CHOICES AVAILABLE."

Our experience with Sally was fantastic. In our front yard, she removed all the plants we had, and saved those that would work in the new design. She listened carefully to the things we felt were most important in the new yard (low maintenance plants that don't require much watering, some color, and plants that would stay green year round), and gave us exactly what we wanted. She has completely transformed our drab front yard into a beautiful garden that adds so much character to our home. We regularly receive comments on how wonderful the yard looks from neighbors and friends. In addition, Sally suggested some changes in our back yard that have made it a much more enjoyable space for our family. Sally is generous with her time, very knowledgeable, and cares a great deal about getting the job right. We highly recommend her, and will most certainly have Sally help us again in the future.

For the initial consultation, Sally was very generous with her time -went well over scheduled time with me going over all the details of her proposal. Started working on my house very quickly even though she already has a full schedule with other clients - I never felt like I was 2nd class to her. She is very clear on what she is going to do and makes things very easy to understand for a gardening rookie such as my self. BTW: cost is $0.00, because project is ongoing.

THE INITIAL CONSULTATION IS DESCRIBED AS A 90 MINUTE SESSION BUT SALLY WAS INCREDIBLY GENEROUS WITH HER TIME - SPENDING A GOOD 2 HOURS TALKING TO ME ABOUT MY RATHER SMALL CITY LOT. MY ''LANDSCAPING'' (IF YOU CAN CALL IT THAT) IS A DISASTER, SO THERE'S LOTS TO COVER. WE TALKED ABOUT CARE AND UPKEEP OF PLANTS I WANTED TO KEEP, WHICH PLANTS SHE DIDN'T RECOMMEND KEEPING AND HOW BEST TO GET RID OF THEM, SOIL AND NUTRITIONAL NEEDS IN GENERAL (ALSO WHERE TO GET GOOD COMPOST), AND ABOUT THE OVERALL DESIGN OF THE GARDEN AND HOW TO TIME MY WORK, AS WELL AS OTHER GARDEN SPECIFIC ISSUES. SHE HAD LOTS OF SUGGESTIONS ABOUT USE OF SPACE AND SOME SPECIFIC PLANTS TO TRY. I TOOK NOTES ON EVERYTHING BUT SHE WILL PROVIDE A PLANT LIST AND MORE FORMAL DESIGN IDEAS FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE. SALLY IS VERY FRIENDLY AND OBVIOUSLY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND I THINK IT WAS MONEY WELL SPENT TO GET ME STARTED ON A NEW AND IMPROVED GARDEN.
