Quality Hardwood Floors

Everything went perfectly.  However, I would encourage future customers to use the more eco-friendly finish.  Trying to save money, we opted for the longer lasting finish whose fumes were noxious and long-lasting.  This is not a complaint against Chris, who did everything we asked for professionally and at a great price.  

I called quite a few people and Marcel was one of a very few people willing to do such a small job. His minimum charge for a job is $250. Most other companies have a $500 or $600 minimum. This was a very fair price and Marcel did an outstanding job.

They are great. They have done other work in our house also, and they do a terrific job. They are very moderately priced, and I couldn?t be happier with them.

Marcel gave his estimate, which was considerable lower than other bids. We told him that we wanted to work with him after our bathroom remodel was finished. When we were finally ready to hire him, he was so busy that we had trouble contacting him (all voicemail boxes were full), but a fax finally worked and Marcel was able to start the work the following week. He worked extremely hard (late at night and on a weekend), so that we could move in on time. He consulted with us at every step of the way: After the first sanding, we decided, which remaining stains we wanted to have repaired and which ones we were willing to live with, which helped us to keep costs under control. When we weren't sure what to do with our existing baseboards (poorly painted in white!), he showed us what they would look like after sanding and refinishing. Since they weren't oak and pretty beat up, we decided to have new ones installed. I called a couple of local suppliers to locate white oak baseboards, but they were all special order (= takes for ever and expensive). Marcel found the needed baseboards for an awesome price. They are so beautiful that we even had a door and window framed with them. (Marcel does not usually do that, but did it for us). All in all he worked a miracle on the floor that looks like new.

Marcel was very upbeat and positive about this difficult job. He was able to schedule the work within a couple of weeks and was in and out in about 4 days. We were able to stay in the house while the work was done. The entire experience was terrific!

Marcel agreed to do the job while we were out of the country. He was very polite and gave us a quote on the spot. He also met with us before starting the job to test different stains and mixed a color that he thought we would like- which we ended up going with. When we came home the job was complete and the floors looked great. The house was also dust free.

It seemed like it took forever, but I'm so happy with the results that it's hard to dwell on that now. The original floors were in nightmare condition when Marcel and his crew started. Covered in black mastic, water damage, holes, you name it, my floors suffered from it. You would never know there was anything wrong with them now, though; they look fantastic! He also cut me a pretty good deal on some new oak flooring for a bedroom that previously had none. It did, as I said, take a while to get it all sorted out, but my house looks so much better that I really don't care now (2 years later). To be fair, this is my first house I ever bought, and the first contractor I ever dealt with, so everything seemed like a nightmare at the time. I've gotten a lot more mellow with time. :)

Marcel (the owner) was very responsive, and extremely courteous to work with. One complaint I had was that he started work a day earlier than we'd agreed, which caused some duress to my sub-letter who hadn't completely vacated the premises. In his defense, Marcel thought the place was vacant and was using the lock-box I provided. the crew did excellent work and I'm told I got a solid deal on the work. I'd use them again.

After he came out to give a bid, I changed the time I wanted the work done from 2 weeks to 1 week, and he promptly came. He was very articulate with everything, moving furniture. I highly recommend him; he's very professional, and I was very impressed.

Marcel is very polite and extremely professional. Everyone warned me that refinishing my floors would be a huge mess. Marcel was very clean throughout the entire process. The floor looks amazingly beautiful. He was also punctual for both the estimate and the work. I highly recommend using Marcel.

Marcel was relatively easy to reach by cell phone and returned calls within 24/48 hours. He was professional and even came to the house after the job to touch up one spot on the floor.

The work was great - you can't tell where the repairs were done, and the floors came out beautifully. The price was the lowest quote I received by far (the next closest was $0.50/sf. more). Marcel showed up promptly to measure and provide an estimate and arrived to do the work on time as well. I highly recommend using this company.
