Pool and Spa Servicing
Even after reading the many negative reviews for Ponderosa, I hired them for pool refinishing as the other reviews pertained to hot tubs and their estimate was the lowest I received.
The project included resurfacing the pool body and coping and replacing the skim coat tile. My pool was in good shape but showing signs of age. So with only cosmetic fixes, I ended up paying Ponderosa (Richard Neigdh) 30% or $1626 more over his estimate of $5300. The overage was attributed to labor for filling spots of loose plaster (acceptable and understandable) but the patches were left extremely rough and visible and there is no way there were 36 additional hours of labor to fill patches, there were six small ones.
The paint job is horrific, very streaked and uneven. I am going to having to drain, acid wash and repaint next year - it looks worse than before.
As far as professionalism, I still have 2 large garbage bags of pool debris sitting in my back yard after 5 months and 3 calls to Ponderosa/Richard please pick up as per agreement

"I must admit that I am very confused about this write up. We did the pool remodel for Dithe customer and everything progressed and and turned out very nice. At the end of the job she stated that she loved the way her pool turned out and not only was very satisfied with the job but would be happy to recommend us to future prospective clients. The pool turned out so nice that I even use a picture of it for advertising purposes. As far as anything being left on the job, I sent a worker by to pick up any debri that might still be there. If he didn't pick it all up, then I will admit being at fault for not double checking the sight. In my defense, double checking my workers isn't normally necessary, but it seems in this case that I may have been lax in that department. Consequently, I will peresonally make a trip to the site and pick up anything that might have been left there. Thank you"

"I sold a very nice hot tub to the customer for an excellent price of $1600. He seemed very satisfied with the hot tub. Some months later, long after his 60 day warranty had lapsed, he contacted me and said there was a "fatal problem" with the hot tub. Supposedly he had the company that made the tub come look at a leak and they said it couldn't be fixed. He also stated that I gave him an extended warranty for a full year, which I have never done and will never do such a foolish thing. How can anyone warranty a used hot tub unconditionally for a full year. That's ludicrous. Even though I was certain I never gave him such a rediculous warranty and had my suspicions wheather the hot tub manufacturer ever visited the site and made such a bold statement that it couldn't be fixed, in an effort to satisfy Mr Smth I agreed to take the hot tub and find him a different one. I easily repaired the hot tub and it is still functioning very well to this day. There were no statements made as to the time frame of procuring a different tub. All the customer stated as to his preferences was that all he really cared about was hot water, he didn't care too much about the number of jets or the power or pressure of them or the pump. Irregurdless of that statement I installed a new pump and heater in the new hot tub that I found for him. I also have completely refinished and refurbished his new tub. He also has electrical power costraints and will only be able to a use 120 volt system as his first tub was. As one might expect fulfilling all of the customer requirements has taken a little longer than just finding an easy replacement. Be that as it may I have spoken with the customer just this Monday, June 4th. At that time I told him that I have his requested replacement tub filling all of his requirements, and that I was out of town and would be happy to deliver it to him upon my imminent return. I plan on returning Friday, June 8th. He said he would rather I email him a picture upon my return, and if it meets his standards, he will come and pick it up. I plan on emailing him a few pictures this Friday. If there is anyone that has any suggestions as to how I could possibly be more accomodating to this individual, I would certainly be willing to consider your ideas if you would kindly apprise me of them. Thank you."

It was sold with a guarantee. He was to deliver it and set it up, which he did. But it never did work right. We had him out to our home 5 times, and he never could get it to work properly. Now he will not even return my calls. The last time we were able to get him to come out was a little over a month ago. He promises, every time he comes out, that he'll fix it but now will not even respond.

"He has been so verbally abusive to myself and my my workers that I can't expect anyone to go with me to work on his hot tub. I expect no one to work in a hostile work work environment and that is what he has created. I would be happy to fix any problems he might have as long as I can deal with his wife and not him. I treat people with respect, and I have the right to expect it in return. Thank you"
