PODS Moving and Storage

I have nothing to compare the price to but I'd say it was probably an A. They were convenient and timely.

We hired people to help with the moving, unpacking, etc.  They delivered the pods to the new home right on time and picked them up when they said they would.  VERY PROFESSIONAL!

Everything was right on. They called and were always earlier than they estimated. They always called when they got there.

This was probably the easiest process I have encountered in the two years I have been remodeling my home.

I am currently using a PODS storage container while working on multiple home improvement projects. While I am very pleased with the ability to store items on-site, I could not be unhappier with PODS' business practices and the lack of assistance I am receiving from their corporate office. I have a rental agreement that states a specific rate per month of storage, but am being charged more (via automatic debit card payment) for every additional month I keep the unit. My order confirmation/summary of charges itemizes only one price per month of rental with absolutely NO indication that the price will climb for each additional month. PODS claims that this upcharge is mentioned on the website, yet my contract with them clearly lists only a monthly rental fee. BEWARE of dealing with PODS! I have received nothing but snarky attitudes and the runaround when contacting the corporate office for an adjustment. p.s. I used a coupon code when I signed up for PODS and was overcharged with my first payment. Fortunately, I was reimbursed for that initial overcharge with only a mild scolding for trying out various combinations of coupon codes prior to deciding which was the best value, entering my debit card information and scheduling my rental.

They drop it off at my home, and I pack it up. Then they pick it up from my home. It is convenient. It holds a lot of stuff. I do not feel rushed to pack it. They can store it or ship it across the US for you.

We have found PODS to be very easy to work with. They make the whole moving process easy with leaving the container and leaving it for you to unload at your own pace. I feel they offer reasonable pricing for all that they do. Their representatives and administration are very helpful.

The initial process of determining the size of the pod needed and how it should be placed on delivery was somewhat more complicated than it should have been because the portland office and the national office seemed to have dropped the ball between them for a day or two. I was finally able to get a return call from the Portland office and emailed them photos of the driveway so they could confirm that the pod would fit.

Delivery was ahead of schedule on the appointed day; the driver called ahead so we knew he was coming. Pickup when we were done with the pod was scheduled for between 7:30 and 10:30 AM; the driver called before 7, waking me up, and had picked up the pod and left before 7:30. I would have preferred he was a little bit later, or that I had been informed he might be that early.

I thought that the pods concept was a great idea, but I was displeased by the company that is actually located in Florida. The pod arrived and was picked up on time. My problem was with billing. While I was online banking, I noticed that I had been billed twice the day before for the same amount with the same transaction number. I called the company and they said that I was only billed once. Then I called my bank. They said I had to wait until my pending transactions were posted before I could complain. Today I saw that both transaction were posted and had to file a complaint. I'm not sure why the PODS company didn't resolve this problem.

There is a time crunch and they have worked with us very well. They pick up and deliver. They have solved a problem in a very efficient manner.

The furniture was severely damaged by heat. A snow boot had actually melted across and adhered to the entire top of a desk. In order to gain access to my things while they were in storage they moved my things outside. They left them outside in 94 degree weather, which damaged the varnish on my furniture. I was worried about things breaking but I had never thought about heat damaging my things. I was paying for the climate control but my things would have been safer in a moving van. PODS gave me a 3 hour time window at 7pm the day before they arrived to get my things. It was very difficult to coordinate with other contractors to move my things into my home because PODS gave me such short notice and they let me know after the other moving companies were already closed. The cost of the move itself was fair but the cost of storage was much more than any other place would have charged. The driver did a good job but the rest of the move was poorly handled.

The staff at PODS were on time in each part of our move. They might be the BEST at communication of what they are doing. They would call each time before they dropped off and picked up the Pod. The drivers were friendly and very helpful in placing the pod where I needed it. The phone staff was also excellent in answering all of my questions and concerns.

POD's had the best price for storage units and more importantly, had the size that would fit in our driveway. Part of our problem was we did not know if the POD would work on our driveway due to the grade and the local people do not/will not come out in advance to evaluate. When we spoke with the main office to schedule the POD, they would only tell us that a certain grade (and gave us the percent) would work and that if the driver could not make it work upon delivery, that there would be no charge. Considering we absolutely needed the POD on the day we scheduled it, this lack of evaluation could really have hurt if our grade had been too steep. That said, delivery and pick up of the POD went very smoothly.

This is a great idea. Having the unit in my driveway for several days meant I could load it in the evenings after work and, best of all, I didn't have to make dozens of trips back and forth to a storage unit or rent a truck and try to do it all at once. My things were in good shape with no damage when delivered to my new home. However, I would not use them again. The service is fine but their billing system is a mess. In the two months I was dealing with PODS, I twice went into the web site to schedule a pick-up or delivery and got a message that I was overdue on a payment and I HAD NEVER BEEN SENT A BILL. I paid on line immediately each time but I will not deal with any company that lists you as overdue before sending you a bill. My credit rating is important to me and I fear that a billing system as out of whack as the PODS system could harm my credit rating. It's not worth it. I'll find another company next time.

This is a great idea, but the company is a national company who refuses to provide local contacts to customers. I scheduled the POD weeks in advance and was told I needed to keep a four-hour window open. I committed to an a.m. delivery then kept the entire a.m. free so I could be here. They never called to confirm as the day neared, so I called their national toll free number and of course never spoke to anyone who could give me information. At 6:00 the night before the move I received a pre-recorded message saying it would be delivered in the p.m. The configuration of our street is odd so I really needed to be here to eyeball the location for the POD. Since I couldn't be here they used their judgment and placed the POD in the worst possible location. The frustrating thing is that you can only speak to a national call center located who knows where, they will refuse to provide you with a local contact and refuse to commit that they will communicate with the local contact.

The drop off and pick up people were all very nice and helpful. My biggest complaint would be that the size of the units. They aren't as big as you think. We were told that their biggest unit would easily handle a 4 bedroom house. We had a three bedroom house (no kids) and the unit wasn't even close to being the right size. We would have needed 1 1/2 of the big units to fit our stuff. Also we weren't informed of the need for a permit to park the unit on the street when it was delivered. We found this out on our way to the new house. It makes sense to need a permit, but I think they should have let us know earlier (they did know EXACTLY where the POD was going).

Great service. I can't believe how handy PODS is during a move. You can load it as your leisure to get boxes out of our way, and unload it at your leisure on the other end.

We were overall pleased with our experience with PODS, as an alternate to your typical interstate moving companies, whom I've read many a horror story about. Delivery and pickup went smoothly in CA. Delivery in WA was about 6 hrs late, due to a driver shortage that day. Not cheap, but we had peace of mind packing it ourselves and not having our possessions held hostage by a non-reputable company.

WE HAD AN UNUSUAL SITUATION WHEN BUYING OUR NEW HOME, WHICH MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SCHEDULE A TRUCK AND PACKERS. SO WE SAW THIS POD SITTING IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND CALLED THEM. THEY HAVE WONDERFUL DRIVERS WHO ARE VERY COURTEOUS AND PROMPT. THE OFFICE WAS RUN BY JEANIE GAUIRD, SHE WAS TRULY A NICE PERSON WHO RAN HER COMPANY WITH GREAT PROFESSIONALISM. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.
