we had a hole in our bathroom ceiling due to an unfortunate yet unavoidable accident while replacing our roof. mike was called in and paid by the roofing company to address the problem. he came over right away and assessed the damage. he made several trips to clean, board, mud, texture, and paint the hole.
mike did a great job fixing the hole and matching the existing texture that it is hard to tell it ever existed. he was knowledgeable, professional, a perfectionist, and so very easy to work with.

On May 22nd Friday, when my husband came back from work. This company was working for our neighbor fence. They had stepped on our back yard flower garden and completely smashed our flower and ornamental grass. They are completely flat and inside of the dirt. Also broke our green tea bush and Japanese maple branchs. When my husband asked them what  happned. One of two guys (older one) said, "I'm sorry for the mess." It's not mess. This is desttruction! And other guy (young one) told my husband. "It will pop back up." I want to ask him, "How?, show me." Are they really profetional? Why did they needed to step on our garden? If really need it, why didn't they build a tiny bridge across the garden? Then, they could step on the bridge. I'd like to say "Please use your head." Anyway we had reported to Portland Police Bureau, two officer came to our house and show them our damage. They had told us, we have the right to charge for the damege. They will be back on Monday or Tuseday. We will see what they will offer for the dameges.
Response from MJB Restoration and Painting Co
"I personally tryed to fix this problem. They refused to let me. I offered to send a arborist to fix the problem. They refused. They asked for money. I payee them cash what they asked. Then they complain on here . ?????? What can I say"

Michael Burnett, owner of MJB, was on the project from beginning to end.  He quoted the work, helped pick out paint and was on the job everyday.   Mike and his crew were efficient and courteous  throughout the project.  He told me how long it would take and he was right on with his estimate.  I am very satisfied with the work Mike and his crew did and would not hestitate to use them in the future.

I was very happy with them. It turned out to be a little expensive because of the nature of my house. Their work was on time and well done. We has some scheduling problems but they weren’t hard to get along with but we didn’t get done as fast as I had thought. They found some water damage rocks behind the gutters so it ended up in costing me a little more than I had hoped. They were upfront about it and were on time.

Two 8-ft sections of a 6-ft high wooden fence were blown down in my backyard. Since there were shrubs being crushed beneath them I was anxious to have repairs done as soon as possible. The first few handymen I contacted were not able to come out for about 3 weeks. I then called Mike Burnett of MJB Restoration who came out right away, gave me an estimate which seemed reasonable to me. Mike and a helper came out the next day and one day later my fence was back in it's original condition including a relocated new post between the two sections to avoid a major concrete excavation where the old post had broken. Mike's timeliness was especially important to me and very much appreciated. I would recommend Mike highly.

It was getting late in the season and we had peeling paint on the trim of our old 3-story house. Our primary concern was protecting the wood. Mike is easy to talk to, a creative problem solver, and prompt. Other contractors came up with expensive, elaborate ways to tackle the job, but Mike figured out ways he could use ladders more easily than scaffolding and keep the expense reasonable. He fit us into his schedule more quickly than he originally thought. I was out of town, so didn't see how most of the actual work went. He and his small crew trimmed a few branches away from the house. He pressure washed and painted within a couple of good-weather days. He even put a coat of paint on the front steps, which we hadn't contracted for. Everything looks better, but not perfect. He is licensed as a lead-mitigator, but we have lots of little paint chips in the yard. Only one plant was damaged. Only a couple drops of paint are still on the sidewalk. A piece of wood under the eaves is missing and painted over. I don't know how he would have done if we weren't so rushed to finish before winter rains set in.

After making the repairs Mike stopped by the next day to make sure that his work was curing properly and also came back a couple of weeks later (for no charge) to fix a ding that happened after his work. Great at follow up and responsive.

They showed up when they said they would, and carried out the work as described and ordered.  They paid attention to details and have returned to fix small problems of blistering paint that have occurred on the front porch.  They cleaned up after themselves.

It went great overall. Mike responded really quickly to my request for an estimate, making it out the same day to take a look around. I mentioned I found the company on Angie's list and received an unexpected discount on the estimate. They did the scraping/powerwashing the next day, then came back about a week later to do the painting. They even painted a gable rafter on the back side of our house that we hadn't specified as part of the deal but clearly needed paint; this was great because figuring out how we were going to paint it was a bit of a challenge.

Almost everything was in really good condition when they left--no major drips or anything. (There was some excess paint on some attic vents and some dirt on siding from the power washing. The latter was easy enough to fix, but I suppose if I need work done again on the eves, I'll need to talk about options for masking the vents while painting because now we have to scrape those to get the ventilation back up to snuff.) Mike called a couple days after to make sure we were happy with the job, which I really am. I'd definitely consider hiring this company again. Great communication and really efficient, quality work.

It went great!  Mike and his crew took a lot of care with our house.  It's small, but it's ours and it's all we've got.  They really did a careful job with the lead based paint, especially since we have an infant.  He was a good communicator - letting us know on a daily basis how things were going and how they were doing on schedule.  His crew was respectful of our property and did a good job cleaning up after themselves.  They also came by on a Saturday of a holiday weekend to finish up a few things.

mike was on time and returned my call.  even on weekends.  he gave me a bid and stuck to it except on one place were we talk about the change.  it did cost a little more money but it took longer them he originally thought.  the work was done. the painting neeed to wait because of the rain.  The skim coat on the foundation went well and blinded in well.

MJB Restoration is a very professional company. I was very comfortable wtih the owner, Mike Burnett. He is competent and trustworthy. His crew was professional as well. He understands the importance of preparing a home for painting the right way to allow for a long-lasting paint job. He explained the process and followed through with everything he said he would. His quote was reasonable and he returned my calls and showed up on time every for every meeting. I would recommend MJB Restoration and Painting to anyone.
