Master Movers Moving and Storage

They stole our jewelry! I hired Master Movers Moving and Storage of Portland, OR to relocate our household in September of 2021. During the move, company employees stole $4,000 of jewelry out of a sealed box and retaped it. We filed a claim with the company. We filed a police report. The police found evidence of the theft and a warrant was issued. We have pleaded with Master Movers for the last 8 months and they have refused to help us recover our items or compensate us for anything. In addition, the move was horrible. They arrived 2 hours late. The truck broke down during transit. They delivered our goods 5 hours late. Customer service has been negligible. I have never been abused by a company like this. This has been a nightmare and we will never use this company again.

The experience was terrible. The movers damaged two expensive pieces of furniture. Their claims department has given us the run around for the last 5 months. They stopped responding to our emails. During the move we caught the drivers driving around the vicinity of the address to extend the number of worked hours. Also when they moved big pieces of furniture, they would disassemble them with the excuse to be able to pass them through the doors but the problem is that they lost some of the parts and now we cannot put the furniture back together. Of course they disassembled more than required to extend the worked hours. Do yourself a favor and don’t hire these guys.

Not my first move either locally or nationally. Moved approximately 4-months ago from a Portland urban location to western suburbs. Estimator cancelled twice before meeting with me; provided erroneous information regarding the move requirements to his office; requested furniture pads be used for specific furniture--did not happen; movers damaged two antique pieces of furniture and did not mention it to me "until I spotted the damage"; filed an insurance claim with them for the damage caused over 4 months ago and I continue to get the runaround. I knew better, however, I followed a recommendation vs. my instinct. You've been warned. Please don't make the mistake I've made.

It went great. They worked really hard.

This was an A+ plus experience from start to finish! We were downsizing from a 3400 square foot home to a 1900 square foot home. The challenge of what to keep and where it would go was compounded by remodelling delays that made it difficult for us to know until the last minute what areas of the new house would be available to us. The gentleman at Master Movers, that I made arrangements with on the phone, was able to tailor our moving package to our needs. He was very clear and accurate about the process, how charges were calculated and the approximate number of hours our move would require. I received confirmation emails and a phone call from the driver the morning of the move. The two professionals that showed up at our door the day of the move were on time and immediately put us at ease. They asked us to walk through the house and explain what was to be moved and listened respectfully to any details I felt were important to share. Then they immediately got to work! They teamed well together, worked very hard and quickly. They were obviously experienced and were careful not to cause damage. At the new place they took time to help us with some arranging and some other details that made us feel more at home. A big bonus was how very pleasant and kind Steve and Sarr were! We enjoyed them both very much and consider them a bright spot in what was a difficult move. Thank you Master Movers and thank you Dennison Capen Group Realty for the great referral!

We had been in our home for 25 years and that is a tough move.  They packed the kitchen, pictures, and a few odds and ends and moved furniture, some of which was quite heavy (e.g., glass shelving unit).  These four guys (Sonny, Sarr, Steve and Shawn) worked their hearts out for a marathon of nearly 14 hours.  They were unfailingly professional and maintained cheerful demeanor.  Long hard day that they made go as well as possible.  Amazingly little dinging of walls, and nothing broken.  Hooray!
Full cost turned out to be more than I expected, but we believe it was reasonable for the services delivered.

Our date for closing on our new house kept changing and these guys were very understanding and able to adjust the moving date for us with short notice. JJ and his crew hustled to get the job done in the amount of time we were hoping for. I would definitely recommend using them.

A+++ experience!  These guys are absolutely awesome.  My out-of-state mover (not Master Movers) hired two independent guys to transfer all of my belongings from a moving van to my house.  Long story short, the two guys walked off the job in the middle of the move after a dispute with my mover.  My mover reached out to Master Movers late in the afternoon and Alex, Donovan, and Justin volunteered to come out.   I have never witnessed three guys work so hard. They were all professional, polite, very careful with my belongings, and just really, really nice.  They stayed until 11:00 PM to ensure that all my stuff was in the house and where I wanted it.  They made an incredibly frustrating situation infinitely better.  The next time I need anything bigger than a chair moved, I'm calling Master Movers!

We were soooooo stressed out about this move. We'd been in our home almost 20 years, and difficult economic situations forced us to sell our house and downsize dramatically. We felt overwhelmed by the task of packing our belongings and moving to some place new. But after talking to Sarah the first time we called the office, we began to feel a bit of the weight lift from us. A very sweet young man named Chris later contacted us and helped us decide exactly what we needed to make our move go as smooth as possible. Then the company field rep, Brent Barnes, came to our home. Brent's humorous attitude helped us forget just how stressed we were! And the estimate he gave us proved at the end to be amazingly accurate.



The day before our move, a crew came out and packed everything in our entire house. They brought boxes and all the necessary supplies, and in less than four hours our whole house was ready to load onto a truck. Sonny was amazing, and he made sure his crew took great care in their packing and labeled everything correctly.



The next morning, about half an hour before the movers were scheduled to arrive and load our things onto their trucks, I received a phone call from Ryan. He introduced himself and asked to see if there was anything we needed before he and his crew came out to start our move. This was perfect, because we had discovered the night before that we had some pictures stashed away that needed special boxes to ship safely. I described what we had, Ryan assured me he would bring what was needed, and just a short time later Ryan, Sonny, and two other guys showed up...several minutes early.



We could tell right away these fellas knew what they were doing, and they just put us completely at ease. They were fast and professional, took great care, and lifted some things that I just couldn't believe could be carried by hand...and they made it look easy!!



THANK YOU, Master Movers!! You turned one of our most stressful days into an almost relaxing adventure. I refuse to ever move again until they move me by casket to a graveyard, but I WILL tell everyone I know to call you guys when they need to move. It's worth it!!!



And when I do, I'll tell them to ask for Ryan and Sonny, because those boys know how to get the job done well!

The movers were good - very careful not to scratch or damage anything. They had a good attitude and worked hard.

I give them a B rating since they were a little bit late and the truck was not big enough to take all of the items we needed to have moved. I had to enlist some friends the next day to complete the move of large items. They also left several ice chests behind with food and meat in them after I asked them several times to be sure and take them. I had to drive 2 hours to go back and get them which really ticked me off. They also partially re-assembled a large oak roll top desk incorrectly causing me to completely dis-assemble and re-assemble it - another hour of my time wasted. Evidently they didn't pay attention when they took it apart (I had already removed all of the screws so it was relatively simple to take apart). Maybe my fault for not paying closer attention but still very annoying.

As far as moves go, having done this several times in the distant past, this was relatively smooth. There are always some things that need to be dealt with after the fact.

I got this service provider from Angie's List. They were fantastic, wonderful and on time. They fill the truck with twist tie with a lock on it so that you get the same thing and the other half of it.

From their arrival, Sergio, Antonio, and Chuck were focused and friendly. They worked well together and efficiently organized and packed their truck. They took care with our most prized and sensitive furniture and possessions. It felt like they considered them their own. They asked questions and listened to answers. They left an incredibly positive impression.

The guys moved mostly boxes--heavy boxes! And some furniture: king bed, wardrobe, little frig., desk, office chairs, lots of bookcases! They arrived on time and started to work right away. They had two flights of stairs to deal with moving us out and an elevator moving us in. They really worked hard and did a great job!

My experience with Master Movers Moving and Storage was very, very poor. Their prices were way too much. The driver wanted to raise the cost of my charges. They were inconsistent with what the cost was going to be. The driver was just rude. It was the most unprofessional group of movers that I've dealt with and I've dealt with movers a lot. This was probably one of my worst experiences. The wait that they gave me was incorrect. There was damage done to my house. Initially, they denied the claim to do the repairs. They said that the damage was caused by poor construction of my house. I told them that wasn't there job, to determine the quality of the construction of my home. When they came to my home, there were no damages. When you left, they were and you need to reimburse and have that fixed. It was very difficult to get them to act if you had a complaint or if you were not satisfied. Their claims process is very difficult and frustrating. I chose not to bother trying to get reimbursement for other damages or to complain about the costs that they charged me, because I just didn't want to deal with them anymore.

They were easy to communicate with, the bid was accurate, the van and movers arrived on time and did the job well.

Several weeks before the move I talked to Dave from Master Movers and he came by checked out my apartment and its contents. He called me the next day with and estimate and we scheduled the actual date of the move. He told me that the movers would arrive at around 9:00 am. Sonny and Casey arrived on time and started loading the truck that they furnished. All was loaded and secured in a couple of hours and we all started out for Lacey. I stopped for a hamburger on the way and because of this they actually beat me to the house in Lacey. They unloaded everything in the rooms where I directed them in about an hour. Included in the contents was a new 55 in Plasma TV which Sonny paid special attention to securing and which worked perfectly after the trip. Sonny and Casey were very professional and hard working it made the move very easy. The job was completed for the cost that was quoted. I would not hesitate to have Master Movers move me again.

Both times they were fantastic, particularly my most recent move. The crew was friendly, prompt, and extremely hard working. I was paying by the hour so I really appreciated how fast and hard they worked. They were also very careful. Great experience.

They moved my things from Oregon to Arizona. They took some other storage thing in California and brought it over. I thought that they did great job. They were quick and fast. I would definitely recommend them to others. They unloaded everything and placed it wherever I wanted them to. I was really happy with them. Their pricing was reasonable.

I called them on short notice. They loaded on a Friday and met me the following Monday. I was moving three hours away. They were on time and curtious. They packaged up when I didn't have boxed yet. They loaded it into the truck. It was a 30 ft truck or so. When we go to the new place, they hauled furniture into different rooms. They asked when everything went. They didn't mark up the floors or hurt anything. It was very good.

We have not used them yet. We have contacted them and got a quote for moving but we are not moving yet, probably for another thirty days. They are going to do the service for us. They have come out to the home and have done a walk through. We are pretty sure that we are going to hire this company.

The team did a good job packing up the old house and it was nice that it was the same team that came to our new house months later.

Please note, they number all materials and hand the owner a packing sheet. As they come off the truck, they yell the number to the owner and expect the owner to check off these items. They do this so that they are not responsible for any missing materials. Had we known this, we would have gone with another company. My husband had a cable guy at the house, a heating guy at the house and our contractor, all while planning on just being at the house while the moving team moved us in. At the end of the move, some items were not checked off and they told my husband, that they were delivered in various rooms and to check them off. My husband still did not know that he was being held accountable.

My family guitar, which is priceless, was missing. This guitar was in its soft case with music sheets, and more. We had a few items that were broken but weren't going to bother with submitting a claim as it was really the guitar I needed to find. After submitting a claim for the guitar, the team denied the request stating that my husband checked of the corresponding number on the sheet. They also supplied a bingo sheet that had only numbers on it that were to represent that they put this item in the truck. The problem with their theory on that was that they also checked off a number for a rocking chair, saying they put it in the truck, when we actually delivered that ourselves. I asked why this was checked off and they said, to tie up loose ends.

They were unwilling to budge and now reading previous reviews, this isn't the first time. The part that really got to me was that the manager told me at the end that and quot;oh by the way, your husband choseand quot;..apparently there are 2 options for insurance and my husband chose the standard, cheaper option, as the other option makes the move unaffordable. Apparently he chose that we would only be reimbursed some odd cents (below a $1.00) per pound, making my guitar worth only about $3.00. Something that was handed down for generations, is now lost and they were unwilling to look into it and hide behind their process.

Please beware what you are walking into and that you will be held accountable and you must choose the highest insurance, which makes the move not worth it. I wish I had done better research and I hope that this helps you.
